  • Oldham still 12/1 to be promoted this season despite poor start

Mike Williamson is the early favourite with bookmakers to be the next Oldham manager

Betting is available for the next Oldham Athletic manager after David Unsworth was sacked on Sunday after a poor run of form saw the side slip to third bottom in the National League.

This has led to bookmakers offering markets over who the next manager of the club will be with Gateshead manager Mike Williamson the 4/1 favourite to take over at Boundary Park.

Gateshead are currently 8th in the National League after starting the season strongly and it would likely take a lot to tempt Williamson with a move away from the club to move to Oldham.

BetVictor have a full market up for the job with various names featured including Micky Mellon and Ian Dawes who are 5/1 and 6/1 respectively in the betting odds.

Next Oldham Athletic Manager Odds Probability
Mike Williamson 4/1 20.0%
Micky Mellon 5/1 16.7%
Ian Dawes 6/1 14.3%
Phil Parkinson 6/1 14.3%
Darrell Clarke 6/1 14.3%
What the expert says...
Gateshead boss Mike Williamson is the early favourite to takeover at Oldham with the latest odds saying there's a 20% chance of him moving to Boundary Park to take over from David Unsworth, who was sacked on Sunday.

David Unsworth was sacked on Sunday after seven-game winless run

Oldham decided to relieve David Unsworth of his duties at the weekend following the Latics 3-0 defeat to Bromley which saw them drop down to third bottom in the league.

Unsworth's appointment was met with big positivity to hopefully kickstart a new era at the club but that has fallen off massively with Oldham struggling to get results.

That Bromley defeat saw Oldham stretch their winless run to 7 games with just one win from their opening 9 games of the National League season so far.

Oldham still 12/1 to be promoted this season despite poor start

Despite a poor start to the season, Oldham are still 12/1 to be promoted from the National League at the end of the campaign but whoever comes in has a big job on their hands.

Bookies are offering odds on who will come up from the National League this season with Chesterfield the odds-on favourites after their strong start to the season.

Interestingly Mike Williamson's Gateshead side are the third favourites in the betting market but that could change if he was to leave the club to join the Latics.

Oldham have a 7% chance of being promoted from the National League this season according to the latest odds.

National League Promotion 23/24 Odds Probability
Chesterfield 2/5 71.4%
Barnet 9/4 30.8%
Gateshead 7/2 22.2%
Hartlepool 5/1 16.7%
Woking 11/2 15.4%
Oldham 12/1 7.7%
