Mauricio Pochettino is the bookies favourite to take over from Gareth Southgate next

Former Tottenham and PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino is the bookies favourite at 4/1 to be the next England manager as rumours of Gareth Southgate's future in the role continue to be discussed.

Pochettino has been linked with the role in the past and his punditry role for the BBC at this year's World Cup may show his interest in international football.

The Argentinian may not fit in some of the credentials wanted by the FA for their next man though with another English manager more likely to be appointed with scars remaining from Fabio Capello a decade ago.

Paddy Power though make two foreign managers in Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel the favourites in the betting market to take charge as England boss next.

Mauricio Pochettino is the outright favourite to be the next England manager, with bookies making him 4/1 to take over from Gareth Southgate next. Eddie Howe is the shortest odds Englishman in the betting market at 9/1.

Southgate reportedly considering his future as England manager after World Cup departure

The latest reports around Gareth Southgate's England reign say that the manager is "conflicted" about his future in the role after the World Cup departure.

England lost 2-1 to France and were knocked out of the World Cup despite looking like the better team on the night and this will have left a bitter taste in the mouth of Southgate.

Southgate has said he will take his time over deciding his future saying, "I don't want to be four, five months down the line thinking I've made the wrong call".

The current England manager is contracted until December 2024 and the FA could decide to stick with him through to the 2024 Euros.

England are currently 6/1 to win the 2024 Euros

Whether it be Southgate who leads the Three Lions into the 2024 Euros or another manager, they will go into the tournament as the second favourites to win it all at 6/1.

England finished runners-up in the last European Championships after losing to Italy on penalties at Wembley and they'll be looking to do one better this time around.

The 2024 Euros will take place in Germany and it's no surprise that it's the Germans who find themselves as favourites to win the whole thing at 5/1.
