  • Pressure keeps building on Southgate ahead of the World Cup
  • Bookmakers give Eric Dier a 61% chance of making the England World Cup squad

Graham Potter is now into 5/2 to replace Gareth Southgate after England's 3-3 draw with Germany

Graham Potter has been backed into 5/2 from 3/1 to be the next England manager, with bookmakers making the new Chelsea manager the favourite in the betting market.

Pressure heaps on Gareth Southgate with England without a win in 6 games going into the World Cup in November and a poor showing there could signal the end.

Paddy Power make Potter 5/2 in the betting market just ahead of Eddie Howe who is 4/1 to be the next England manager.

Next England Manager Odds Probability
Graham Potter 5/2 28.6%
Eddie Howe 4/1 20.0%
Mauricio Pochettino
5/1 16.7%
Steve Cooper 6/1 14.3%
Thomas Tuchel 10/1 9.1%

Eddie Howe has been backed in slightly to 4/1 second favourite from 6/1 a fortnight ago with another English manager potentially on the cards for England.

Mauricio Pochettino could well change that though with the Argentinian currently without a managerial job.

Graham Potter is now into 5/2 to be the next England manager with Gareth Southgate under increasing pressure after the recent international break.

Pressure keeps building on Southgate ahead of the World Cup

The 2022 World Cup starts in just 54 days time and England will go into the tournament without a win since March.

Since then, Gareth Southgate's men have failed to win any of their next 6 games and will go into the World Cup in poor form.

Monday's 3-3 draw against Germany saw England score their first goal from open play in over 9 hours.

According to the latest odds, England starter Eric Dier still only has a 61% chance of making the England World Cup squad.

At 8/13, Dier isn't as short as other starting players in Gareth Southgate's squad but it looks increasingly likely he'll be going to Qatar.

Dier's position in the England squad strengthened further last night with John Stones' hamstring injury.
