Nigel Farage shortens into 5/1 to be the next Conservative Leader
Betting odds on the next Conservative Leader now sees Nigel Farage shorten into joint second favourite at 5/1 with UK Betting Sites for the role despite another conference where he criticised the Tory party.
Speaking at the ARC conference in London earlier this week, Farage spoke about the Conservative Party being "not on the right in any measurable way".
Conservative MP Mel Stride previously said back in August that Farage would be banned from the party saying that he wants to "destroy" the Conservatives.
Farage himself back in 2023 said that he would be surprised not to be Tory leader by 2026 but he since took over as Reform UK leader where he is looking for a big showing at the local elections in May.
William Hill's latest market though keeps Farage as the joint second favourite to be the next Conservative Leader with the betting odds putting him alongside James Cleverly.
Next Conservative Leader | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Robert Jenrick | 9/2 | 18.2% |
James Cleverly | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Nigel Farage | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Boris Johnson | 13/2 | 13.3% |
Suella Braverman | 8/1 | 11.1% |
What the expert says...
Robert Jenrick remains market leader for the role next
Robert Jenrick had reached the bottom two for the Tory leadership during the last voting before Kemi Badenoch beat him to the role and it's no surprise to see him remain at the top of the market to replace her.
Jenrick's current role in the Government is as Shadow Secretary of State for Justice which he has held since 4 November replacing Edward Argar.
It's likely that Jenrick would run for Conservative leader once again if the role became vacant and the betting odds put him as 9/2 favourite to do one better than last time.

Kemi Badenoch currently leads the Tory Party
Kemi Badenoch is the current leader of the Tory Party after being voted in to the role back in November and it's not been an easy ride for her since she was voted in.
Badenoch spoke at the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship conference in London earlier this week where she said that “our country and all of western civilisation will be lost” if the efforts of the Conservative Party and right wing ideology fails.
The most recent YouGov poll said that 48% of Tory voters say Badenoch does not look like a Prime Minister waiting.
