Michael Appleton is now 4/6 to become the next Charlton Athletic manager
London News stated that Appleton was interviewed last week for the vacant role and this has seen bookmakers shorten his odds from 6/1 into the heavy favourite to get the job.
Dave Challinor moved into favourite last week after reports that Charlton were after the Stockport manager but he reportedly turned down the move after talks.
BetVictor now have Appleton and Danny Cowley as the top two in the betting market to take over at Charlton following Dean Holden's departure.

What the expert says..
Michael Appleton is now odds-on to take over at Charlton with the club still looking for a manager to replace the sacked Dean Holden. Appleton's odds now suggest a 60% chance that he gets the job!
Interim manager Jason Pearce is a 20/1 outsider for full-time role
Former Charlton centre-back Jason Pearce has been put in charge as the current interim manager of the club but his odds are out to 20/1 for him to get the role full-time.
Pearce led his side to victory against Fleetwood Town on Saturday before a 4-3 loss away at Crawley Town in the EFL Trophy Group Stages.
The former player made 175 appearances for the Addicks in a six-year spell between 2016 and 2022 and will continue as interim until the club find a suitable manager to take over.

Charlton are 50/1 to win League One this season after their tough start
Charlton's tough start to the season has seen their odds to win League One drift right out to 50/1 with their odds much shorter before the season got underway.
The Addicks recent results have seen them lose to Bristol Rovers, Port Vale and Oxford United before a win in the league against Fleetwood Town last weekend.
Bolton have now moved into 10/3 favourites to win League One this season after a 2-1 win at home to fellow title chasers Derby County on Saturday.
