Martin Devaney is the 4/5 favourite to be the next Barnsley manager

Betting remains available for who the next Barnsley manager will be with Martin Devaney the latest favourite in the market according to UK Betting Sites.

Devaney has been a coach at Barnsley for a number of years now as well as playing for the club for a six year spell between 2005 and 2011.

The latest reports from footballeagueworld suggest that Devaney is being mooted as an internal appointment in the club with good experience within Barnsley.

BetVictor have Devaney as the 4/5 favourite to takeover at Barnsley next with his current odds putting him firmly clear at the top of the market.

Next Barnsley Manager Odds Probability
Martin Devaney 4/5 55.6%
Darren Moore 4/1 20.0%
Chris Wilder 5/1 16.7%
Steve Cotterill 6/1 14.3%
Dave Challinor 6/1 14.3%
What the expert says..
Martin Devaney is now odds-on to take over at Barnsley as the potential for an internal appointment looks increasingly likely with the board looking for a manager before pre-season begins.

Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore is a new entry in the market

Darren Moore is a new entry in the market to become the next Barnsley boss after leaving his role as Sheffield Wednesday manager earlier this month.

Moore left the role as Wednesday boss in a 'mutual decision' earlier this month in what came as a massive shock after guiding the Owls to promotion in the play-offs.

In a statement chairman Dejphon Chansiri said, "Both parties believe that now is the right time we go our separate ways."

His current odds of 4/1 to take over at Barnsley suggest that there's a 20% that it could happen in what would be a great signing by the Tykes.

Barnsley are one of the favourites to win League One next season

The 23/24 League One season looks like it will again be ultra competitive and after losing in the play-off final last season Barnsley are one of the favourites to win the league.

Derby are the clear favourites to win the division at 5/1 ahead of Bolton at 8s and Barnsley and Peterborough who are joint third favourites at 9/1.

League One Winner 23/24 Odds Probability
Derby 5/1 16.7%
Bolton 8/1 11.1%
Barnsley 9/1 10.0%
Peterborough 9/1 10.0%
Portsmouth 10/1 9.1%
