I break betting odds news as it happens, so you’re never left behind when the market moves or a top offer lands.

  • Eddie Howe is now the 5/1 favourite to be the first English Manager to win the Premier League
  • Former favourite Graham Potter now out to 14/1 from 3/1 despite strong season at Brighton
  • England manager Gareth Southgate is 20/1 in the betting market

Eddie Howe is now the 5/1 favourite to be the first English Manager to win the Premier League

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is now the 5/1 favourite with bookies to be the first English manager to win the Premier League.

Howe became Newcastle boss back in November after the dismissal of fellow Englishman Steve Bruce with the club bottom of the league.

After a massive turnaround, Howe ended up guaranteeing Newcastle's survival and guided them to finish in 11th place.

At odds of 5/1, Howe is the bookmakers favourite just in front of 8/1 Steven Gerrard in this betting market.

After a great start to his career as Newcastle manager, Eddie Howe is now the 5/1 favourite to be the first English manager to win the Premier League. Bookies make Steven Gerrard the second favourite in the betting market at 8/1.

Former favourite Graham Potter now out to 14/1 from 3/1

Graham Potter was the favourite in this betting market back in November, with odds of 3/1 suggesting he'd do well in the Premier League at some point.

At the time Potter was linked to big moves with Brighton sat in 5th place in the Premier League, with our blog showing just how well he'd been doing at that point.

First English Manager to win the Premier League Odds Probability
Eddie Howe 5/1 16.7%
Steven Gerrard 8/1 11.1%
Graham Potter 14/1 6.7%
Frank Lampard 16/1 5.9%
Gareth Southgate 20/1 4.8%

Such a big difference in the odds, from 3/1 to 14/1, shows there has to be credit to how well Howe has done since joining Newcastle in November.

The backing that Howe and Gerrard will be getting at their respective clubs in comparison to Potter at Brighton is also a factor in this.

England manager Gareth Southgate is 20/1 in the betting market

England boss Gareth Southgate features in the betting market to be the first English manager to win the Premier League.

This would obviously mean that Southgate would no longer be in his England role, which he is in contract to stay in til December 2024.

Southgate has featured in betting markets for football jobs, including being linked with the Manchester United role for a short period after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was dismissed.

England will be playing in Nations League fixtures over the next couple of weeks and you can see tips for those games from the OLBG tipsters here

England manager Gareth Southgate is 20/1 to be the first English manager to win the Premier League. This would mean that he would have to leave his role as the boss of the national team though, which may not happen any time soon.
