Q: Who will win the Golden Boot at Euro 2024?

ZT: “I would like it to be the guy with number 9, Serbia shirt, Aleksandar Mitrovic, who scores the most goals but for that we would need to reach the quarter-finals or maybe even semi-finals.

“He's a fantastic striker, so I would love it if he won it. To be realistic I think Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe or even, depending on where Portugal finish, Cristiano Ronaldo. He can give us one more show.”

Q: Who will be the best player at Euro 2024?

ZT: “England players like Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden, were amazing this year and of course have been in the past as well.

“So if England qualify for the final or even win the tournament, I think they both have a very good chance to win the player of the tournament award.”

Q: Who are your dark horses at Euro 2024?

ZT: “Serbia are in a similar situation to England in the sense that our players are at the peak of their careers. I think we have a good chance if we go through the group, to go as far as possible.

“Croatia always do well in the Euros and in the World Cup as well. So, I would not be surprised if one of these two teams go far.”

Q: How far will Serbia go at Euro 2024?

ZT: “Before the last World Cup, the euphoria and the expectation from the people in Serbia was huge. Before the tournament, it was like we were already in the quarter-final which was an unrealistic prediction.

“But now I see that the environment and everyone around is a little bit more calm, I think this is a good thing because we don't give a lot of pressure on the national team and from these comments.

“I think they can go to the group and after that we'll see how far we can go. But we definitely have the quality to get through the group.”

Less pressure, more focus. Mitrovic & Vlahovic are our stars, with Pavlovic shining in defense. We have the quality to go far!

Zoran Tosic

Q: Who will be Serbia’s star player at Euro 2024?

ZT: “In Serbia we are expecting the most from Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dusan Vlahovic because they are top strikers. They have played in fantastic teams and scored so many goals throughout the season.

“We also have quality midfielders, but to be honest, our defence is not the strongest. However we have a lot of quality and of course we expect the most from Mitrovic and Vlahovic to score goals and to lead us forward.

“We also have a fantastic, talented defender in Strahinja Pavlovic who plays in Salzburg, in Austria. He has a big heart, he's a fighter, he never gives up. He's very, very talented. He's already 23 but I think Euro 2024 can help him go to a better team and to play at a higher level.”

Q: What do you think of Serbia’s kits for Euro 2024?

ZT: “We always wear red or white. I like both of them. So, it depends where we are playing. I like the kit, I like the shirt, so it's good.”

Q: What can we expect from Serbia fans at Euro 2024?

Rajko Mitic Stadium, Belgrade, Serbia. 2nd Mar, 2019. Serbian Superliga football, Red Star Belgrade versus Partizan Belgrade; The fans of Red Star Belgrade light flares to support their teamZT: “I'm sure because Germany is quite close to Serbia that we will see our fans around.

“They are currently preparing and cannot wait to go to support the national team. So I'm sure that we will have fantastic support.

“Partizan and Red Star fans, they are crazy, amazing, very passionate. So I hope that a lot of them will go together to cheer for Serbia and to try to help the boys.”

Q: How proud were you to represent Serbia?

ZT: “I played more than 10 years for the national team and I always say that this period of my career was the most important because when you play under your flag and play for your country, there is nothing more important and there is no better feeling when you score a goal and help your national team.

“I will never forget that. I played more than 70 games and I am very very proud. I would never imagine that I am going to play 70 games. It's a fantastic achievement for me.”

Q: Who were the biggest leaders in the Serbia dressing room?

Vidic is a LeaderZT: “I have to say that our leaders were Nemanja Vidic and also Dejan Stankovic during the period when I was part of the national team. They were our leaders, players who won the Champions League, played at the World Cup and were huge personalities, big characters, true leaders.

“After that we also had Branislav Ivanovic, Aleksandar Kolarov as well. So we had fantastic names and fantastic characters.”

Q: How will Serbia get on against England at Euro 2024?

ZT: “I think that we might have an advantage because everyone is realistic in making England a big favourite and expecting them to start the tournament with a win. Because of that Serbia have nothing to lose. They can only win.

“Any positive result would be fantastic for us. In the first game you know it's always tough and the players will give more than usual, will give 100%

“So I'm sure that it's not going to be easy for England. I watched their last friendly game when they lost 1-0 against Iceland.

“Of course you see that they keep the ball throughout the game they have possession but they were not as dangerous as I thought.

“It will be interesting but every positive result for us it's like a miracle. I would like to see 1-1.”

With England as favorites, we have nothing to lose. Every positive result is a win for us. Expect a tough match and I’d love to see a 1-1 draw!

Zoran Tosic

Q: How will Serbia set up against England at Euro 2024?

ZT: “We also have a team that can defend but when you see our players like Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Dusan Tadic, Dusan Vlahovic, Aleksandr Mitrovic, there is Andrija Zivkovic as well. There is a lot of offensive potential and our coach Dragan Stojkovic was a number 10.

“He is one of the best players in the history of Serbia. So we always play to score one goal more than the opponent.

“But against England I'm sure that we will need to be a little bit more cautious at the beginning, but he knows that we need to score goals to win, you know, because this is the strongest part of our team.”

Q: Who will Serbia players be the most wary of in England’s team?

ZT: “Phil Foden can play I think everywhere. Jude Bellingham is more dangerous when he goes through the middle and closer to the goal, but Foden can drop deep, get the ball, play on the wing, make good runs, good crosses, so he can play everywhere.

“Both of them are amazing. They are fantastic, but if I had to choose who is more dangerous to Serbia I would say Phil Foden.”

Q: How will Serbia get on against Slovenia at Euro 2024?

ZT: “Against Slovenia, this is the game where we have to win. We have to show our best football, to play offensive football, to score goals.

“We are not the team who is going to defend, which we have played like in the past, I think now we have players who are very good going forward and we have to use that.

“This game is a must win so I’ll say 2-0 to Serbia.”

Q: How will Serbia get on against Denmark at Euro 2024?

ZT: “Denmark are a fantastic team. They have been playing well for the past 10 years. I know all the players. They have a good system. They know what they are doing and that makes them a very serious team.

“Hopefully in this game against Denmark where you can play with a bit more calm and from that we can show our talent.

“Under pressure in the past two World Cups when it was the most important against Switzerland, we lost. So I think in this game against Denmark, my prediction is 0-0.”

Q: Should England be cautious of Serbia?

ZT: “England will get hurt by Serbia if they are too relaxed. England are fantastic in all parts of their team. But we have a very good attack and we will see.

“Of course, we have to be more afraid of England than England are of Serbia, but don't be too relaxed because you could get shocked.”

Q: Did England make a mistake in leaving out Marcus Rashford?

ZT: “The problem with England is that they have so many options for attacking players, so many good wingers and strikers, so you need to leave somebody out.

“Marcus Rashford has been left out, but he's a player who can change the game with one move. I would like to see him in any England squad.

“I think even if he is not in the best mood and even if he doesn't have the best season, he has speed, he has fantastic finishing, fantastic cooperation with the teammates.

“There are not a lot of players like him, not even in England, in the world with that pace and that quality. So for us it's good that he is not in the squad.”

Zoran Tosic Interview June 2024

Speaking exclusively to OLBG, former Serbia international Zoran Tosic has insisted that Manchester United need a bigger character than Erik ten Hag as their manager.

Tosic believes that United need a manager that is closer to the personality of Sir Alex Ferguson, with Real Madrid icons Carlo Ancelotti or Zinedine Zidane the perfect next bosses.

The former Manchester United winger has also tipped Aleksandar Mitrovic to return to the Premier League with a top six side after his ‘holiday’ in Saudi Arabia.

Tosic has also explained how Nemanja Vidic was left gutted after losing in Manchester United training, having been a leader in the Old Trafford dressing room.

Q: What needs to change at Manchester United?

ZT: “It's difficult to say what needs to change at Manchester United. I would really like to see them back in the top of the Premier League but I'm aware that this is not an easy job.

“But step by step they will improve and they will come back to that position, I'm sure of it.

“I do think Erik ten Hag is an amazing manager, but they need a manager more like Sir Alex Ferguson, a bigger character.

“They need someone who will lead them, who will show them the way forward. So I would like to see someone like Carlo Ancelotti or someone like that, a big name.

“Another fantastic name is Zinedine Zidane, who has already won trophies with a big team like Real Madrid. He knows what it is to be a manager of one of the best teams in the world and he could be perfect for Manchester United.”

Q: Will Aleksandar Mitrovic return to the Premier League?

ZT: “Aleksandar Mitrovic did amazing things with Fulham. He was scoring so many goals so he knows the Premier League very well.

“I think he wanted to go, let's say, on vacation for one or two years to enjoy life a little bit more.

“But I'm sure that he has more to show and I would like to see him again in the Premier League in one of the biggest teams and I'm sure that he would do very well there as well as at Fulham.”

Q: What was Nemanja Vidic like in the dressing room?

ZT: “Nemanja Vidic, he was so professional. He wanted to win in every training session. I remember sometimes when we lost in training he was so upset.

“He was one of the biggest leaders I had in football. Obviously, to be a leader in front of Giggs, Scholes and Ronaldo and these kinds of players, it says how big you are and how much everyone respected him.”

Q: Who could be Serbia’s next star at Manchester United?

ZT: “At the moment I don't see anyone who can go to Manchester United at this time. We don't have these kinds of players like the period when we were playing.

“I mean, Vidic was one of the best defenders in the world. I also had the opportunity to be a part of this fantastic team after that.”

Q: Would Dusan Vlahovic be a good signing for Arsenal?

ZT: “Dusan Vlahovic has the potential and quality to play in the Premier League, but I'm not sure if he's capable of showing the same level of football in England as he is in Italy.

“He's been at Juventus for two, three years. I think he's improving after struggling a little bit with some injuries in the past.

This season, he helped Juventus to qualify for the Champions League and I'm sure he wants to achieve something with Juventus to win the league or to go far in the Champions League.

“After that, maybe he will join one of the big teams in England. But you know, most of the players who feel comfortable in one team, in a big team, they don't like to change.

“Also, the Premier League is stronger than Serie A. I would like to see him play for one of the big teams, but I'm sure he will stay at Juventus for now.”

Q: Would Luka Jovic be a great free transfer to a Premier League club?

ZT: “Luka Jovic is a good player, who is very talented, but he has also had some difficult periods since joining Real Madrid. He was struggling a little bit to show his potential.

“I would like to see him in the Premier League. I'm not sure which team he should join, but he's now at the best age, 26.

“I think he has quality, he showed a bit of that at AC Milan.”

Q: How do you reflect on your time at Manchester United?

ZT: “When I heard that I had a chance to move to Manchester United, it was my dream come true because I was a fan all through my whole life.

“Things didn't go well, but the experience of the one year which I spent there when I was training with all these legends, with the coach and everyone, with everyone. So it was amazing.”

Q: What was Sir Alex Ferguson like at Manchester United?

ZT: “Sir Alex Ferguson was amazing to work with. He is a fantastic manager and a fantastic person. The moment when you first see him, is the moment that you know that you have to give everything for him.

“So his personality, his character, it was amazing. Just thinking about all the other guys who I trained with Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney. Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nemanja Vidic, it was incredible.

“After some time I got used to the tempo, and to life in Manchester, but unfortunately I didn't get a lot of time to play. So I needed to ask for another solution and leave.”

Q: What was Wayne Rooney like in the dressing room?

ZT: “Wayne Rooney was an amazing talent. He had everything. He was also a funny guy who always tried to keep the atmosphere up in the dressing room.

“For me it was a pleasure to play with all of them. Wayne Rooney is one of the best players in the history of Manchester United. He's also the top goalscorer which he deserves.”
