US Open - Key Scoring Statistics

Greens In Regulation

We touched on this area in our US Masters Betting Guide and although we are talking about different courses for the US Open as opposed to solely Augusta for the Masters, what is evident when looking at some of the past US Open winners (between 2015 & 2019) scoring stats is they were all ranked in the top 5 for 'Greens in Regulation' (GIR) when winning their US Open.

Other key scoring areas like putting, birdies, eagles, driving distance etc saw some winners rank well however the persistent statistic for winners ranking highly was 'Greens In Regulation'.

Here is a table showing the US Open winners between 2015 and 2019 plus their GIR ranking:

  • In 2019 the 1st (Gary Woodland) and 2nd (Brooks Koepka) finished 2nd and 1st for GIR.
  • 2021 winner Jon Rahm was ranked 5th in the G.I.R PGA Tour stats prior to the US Open.
