The US Open tournament tends to be staged on golf courses renowned for posing even the best golfers the sternest of tests so let's take a look at where the 126th US Open will take place in 2026.

Along with the USPGA Championship and The Open Championship, the US Open is held annually at different venues and the 2026 event returns to Shinnecock Hills which staged the 2018 US Open won by Brooks Koepka.

This par 70 links style venue has hosted the US Open on numerous occasions, Retief Goosen won here in 2004 prior to Brooks Koepka in 2018.

Greens In Regulation

We touched on this area in our US Masters Betting Guide and although we are talking about different courses for the US Open as opposed to solely Augusta for the Masters, what is evident when looking at some of the past US Open winners (between 2015 & 2019 for example) scoring stats is they were all ranked in the top 5 for 'Greens in Regulation' (GIR) when winning their US Open.

Other key scoring areas like putting, birdies, eagles, driving distance etc saw some winners rank well however the persistent statistic for winners ranking highly was 'Greens In Regulation'.
