2026 PUBG Global Championship Preview
The PUBG Global Championship is the PUBG season-ending tournament where the best teams from the season are invited to compete to determine the overall champions for the year.
When is the 2026 PUBG Global Championship?
The 2026 tournament is expected to take place from late November into mid-December of 2026, with the host venue yet to be announced. Whilst the exact schedule will not be announced till closer to the event, this is how it was last year.
The group stages will take place over the first six days, thirty-two teams start the tournament, split into two groups. After the three days, the top five advance to the Grand Finals, the middle eight into the Last Stage and the bottom three head home.
After a day's break, it is the 'Last Stage' which takes place over three days, sixteen teams head into this stage with a last chance of getting to the finals, and the top five do just that, with the bottom eleven teams being eliminated.
The fifteen teams still left in the tournament then get four days off before the Grand Finals, which will run for three days when the Champions will be crowned.
PUBG Global Championship History
In 2018, the 'Global Invitational' was created and was hosted in Berlin, with Gen.G winning the third-person tournament and Oh My God winning the first-person tournament.
The first official 'PUBG Global Championship' was held in 2019 with $4 million prize money on offer. The tournament was hosted in Oakland and LA in the US, and Gen.G Esports ran out winners and claimed the $2 million winners' prize.
Despite rising to $4.4m in 2021, the prize pool has been steadily dropping ever since, and in 2025, it had dropped to an all-time low of $1.5m.

What is PUBG?
What is PUBG? PUBG Corporation developed PUBG, short for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, which is a battle royale online multiplayer game.
The game can feature up to one hundred players who all begin by parachuting onto an Island. From there, they then have to find weapons and equipment to defeat the other players. As the game time goes on, the area of the island which is playable decreases, which means players have a smaller area to move around, which in turn means more likely to come across other players.
What is a Battle Royale game? These are online multiplayer games which contain three main elements, survival is the number one factor, avoid your opponents taking you out whilst taking them out of the game, exploration, whether the game is based on an island or in a city, you need to explore the game map which will bring in the survival factor and also the third element, scavenging, as you more often than not start with nothing so you need to find your weapons etc so the three elements all intertwine to make this a Battle Royale.
