The form of his debut third at Nottingham has worked out well and that makes him the one to beat in this field.

Was a staying on 4th on debut in a Class 2 event over 6f at Yarmouth in May when looking in need of the experience. That was in a field of newcomers and has already produced a couple of winners. Improved on that last time at Newbury when 3rd without coming under too much pressure and can improve again here and go close.

Reception is a 2yo colt trained by Charlie Fellowes. He has the benefit of two runs under his belt in this class 4 maiden. He is out of a dam called Tamara Love (IRE), who was pretty ordinary, but Reception is a half-brother to the useful Room Service, RPR 115. Room Service, trained by Kevin Ryan, is 4/12 wins and won a Listed race at Doncaster as a 2yo and finished 2/8 in a Group 3 last June behind the vastly improved Quinault, now rated 112 and a winner of 10 races. He is also related to four-time winner Royal Advice, RPR, both performing best over today's 6f. Reception was beaten 2l last time out at Chester over 7f despite racing wide under Billy Loughnane, so he did well in the circumstances and was heavily backed 100-30 into 2-1. With experience on his side, he can make his presence felt in this company for Charlie Fellowes under Stevie Donahue, for a trainer who has had 45 2yo winners with 22 winners if reappearance is within the last 25 days. He is dropped back down to 6f as he didn't quite see out the trip at Chester over 7f. Interesting contender!

Wise Crack makes his debut today. Given trainer John Ryan's good record in preparing two-year-olds for racing on the turf, a successful debut can be assumed. The pedigree, and his sire is Blue Point, allows one to hope for success.
