2:25 Doncaster Tips

Has been a mixture of disappointing runs alongside hard luck stories since winning over 6f here a year ago. Moves up to 7f here and is worth one last chance from this mark.

Backing Wreck It Ryley, the 5-year-old Gutaifan gelding trained by Alan Brown, in tomorrow’s 14:25 Grace and Dotty Fedoras and Feathers Handicap over 7 furlongs at Doncaster. He arrives in consistent form this spring, winning on his return at Thirsk in mid-April before following up with credible finishes??'a 5th at Pontefract, 4th at Ripon and most recently a solid 6th of 20 at York on May 31 over 6f . That York run, off a mark of 76, suggests he remains in good nick, and he enjoys the step back up in trip to 7f which should suit his stamina. Wreck It Ryley has a strong record in competitive handicap company??'32 career runs, 4 wins and 13 places??'and seems well-handicapped by Alan Brown, especially given his recent consistent efforts . His Thirsk win in April, when traveling powerfully before staying on to lead, indicates he can control a race if allowed. With a decent early gallop likely at Doncaster, he’ll benefit from settling midfield before producing a strong late effort.

Patontheback looks on a very nice weight in the handicap and has come back on form judging by its excellent third of eight at Catterick last month.

Follow Your Heart holds a much higher rating on the all-weather, and I find it interesting to see this horse back on the grass again. Could do better than the outsider of the pack.

Count Palantine has little margin for error from this current mark. He has placed in the last two races, and I think today can be the day he gets his nose in front at the business end.

With a 33% strike rate here, Dandy is my EW outsider. He has good memories of this course and distance with a win here previously, though his best recent efforts have come on the AW. He raced far too keenly last time out, which did not help, but a return to a familiar track and a bit of cover in the early stages might see him bounce back. Not one to rule out completely in a race lacking standout clear winners.

This is one of the massive drifts and probably not without a reason. But I'm still tempted to place a small each way on her. She's done well to win her last novice race carrying a 4-year-old penalty, she's well bred and her opening mark isn't too harsh.
