I fancy there's a fair chance Tony Martin could do the Chester Cup and Plate double but Hamsiyann has the strongest chance of his runners under Oisin Murphy. Finished 2nd in this race two years ago (behind stablemate Alphonse Le Grande) from a mark of 87 and hasn't been tried over staying flat trips since but acquitted himself pretty well over hurdles, winning once. Returns from a mark 1lb higher having missed out on the Chester Cup and has to be respected.

Shrimp Shady has won 2 of his 9 career starts and been placed on 4 other occasions. He won at Wolverhampton in March and was runner-up last time at Lingfield off 2 lbs higher last month. He has won one of his two starts on turf, and though up 3 lbs, the stable is in great form. He looks a good each-way bet with 5 places on offer.

A consistent 5yo. He seems in good shape. He was a good 4th of 12 in a £90K AW handicap five weeks ago and can be a player in this £25K turf handicap, a few lb lower for this contest. He ran a big race at this track last Sept over a similar 2m trip, beaten just a length that day in an 11-runner £52K handicap.

Call My Bluff has an impressive record from four runs here, winning once over 2 miles and placed three times over course and distance. The latest effort over course and distance came in this race back in 2023, when this 9-year-old was third, beaten a length off a mark of 88. Just the four runs since, winning over 2 miles at Newbury three weeks ago, and looks each-way value racing off 82 today.

The James Owen stable already successful this week and in fine form the last fortnight. Drawn in the middle today should be OK, and the ground is reported to be getting firmer, which will suit Kate O'Reilly. Won over 2m, so the trip is good. Luke Morris booked is a plus.

The booking of Billy The Kid caught my eye for this one. The yard are going well and do well with their small string at this track. Improvement can be expected now going up in trip, too. I'm going each way with 5 places on offer.

A nose 2nd at this course back in September 2024 over 2f shorter on soft. Kept on that day and was from stall 8, with today arguably a better draw from stall 2. First time blinkers on.

This one is the only course-and-distance winner in this race. They are stepping it back up in trip with the same jockey on board. Worth a small each-way saver bet for the five places available.

3lb higher than when winning here last August showing a good attitude to battle in well when challenged and though disappointing after has gone well fresh before so after a break could bounce back. Won after a near four month break before so can go well fresh and also has proven stamina which many in here don't. Won at around this trip over hurdles and has a nice draw to track the pace before staying on strongly. Handles any ground and looks a cracking EW shout for shrewd yard.

Won seven times last year. Not so good recently but was not given a good ride last time at Beverley. Can do better ridden with restraint here. Each-way selection

Who's Glen was an unlucky 5th in the Chester Cup last season. Things haven't gone his way since, but his recent run at Sedgefield was alright. Much lower in the weights here, but a wide draw to deal with.
