2024 Frizette Stakes Preview

The Frizette Stakes has seen the conditions of the race change drastically since its creation in 1945 when it was originally run over six furlongs, in 1948 that was reduced to five furlongs for just one renewal. When the race returned in 1952 it was back over six furlongs but only for two years with it being increased to one and one-sixteenth miles, however, in 1960 it was again reduced to a mile which it stayed at till 1993 with the exception of 1985 when it was upped to one and one-eighth miles. From 1994 till 2004 the race was run over one and one-sixteenth of a mile, however, since 2005 the race has been run over a mile.

It is run at the Belmont Park racetrack in October of each year and is contested on the dirt track with the race being restricted to two-year-old fillies, the race is known as the female version of the Champagne Stakes which is run on the same day at Belmont Park.
