Avalanche

When a winning combination is formed, the Avalanche feature triggers. Winning symbols are removed with the remaining symbols falling into the empty positions. Then new symbols drop into the newly vacated positions from above, allowing for the chance of another winning combination.

Enhancer Reel & Special Symbols

With 6 reels, 4 rows and 4,096 ways to win, you’ll see 6 locked box positions above the reels, called the Enhancer Reel. Special symbols can land in it: they become active when they fall onto the reels during avalanches. Falling with the same multiplier as the Global Multiplier, it begins at 1x and increases by 1 after a win. The Global Multiplier also increases when special symbol appear. Special symbols include:

• xBomb: an exploding xBomb removes adjacent symbols (except the Wild, Reckoning Girl and Bonus Scatter) and increases the win multiplier by 1 for the next avalanche. Locked boxes in adjacent positions to the xBomb are removed when exploding.
• Rat/Rat King: when 4 or more Rat or Rat King symbols land on the reels, they are removed and the total of each Rat and Rat King’s multipliers are added to the Global Multiplier. Rat symbols have multipliers up to 5x with Rat King symbols worth 15x, 20x or 25x. If split, the number of Rat or Rat King symbols in the affected symbol position doubles, with their multiplier unaffected.
• xSplit: any xSplit symbol splits all other symbol on its row, doubling the multiplier on split symbols. Once all xSplit symbols have activated, they transform into regular paying symbols as well as opening the locked boxes on its row.
• xWays: an xWays symbol reveals a random paying symbol with a starting multiplier that matches the Global Multiplier. It then adds a multiplier of 2x, 3x or 4x to itself. If more than 1 xWays symbol appears, all xWays will reveal the same symbol.
• Toxic xWays: a Toxic xWays symbol reveals a random paying symbol with a starting multiplier that matches the Global Multiplier. It then adds 2x to itself and to all instances of the revealed symbol on the reels. If multiple Toxic xWays symbols land, all Toxic xWays symbols will reveal the same symbol.
• xWild: an xWild symbol converts all symbols on the same reel to Wilds whilst keeping their multiplier. xWild symbol does not affect Bonus Scatters, Reckoning Girl, Rat and Rat King symbols.
• Redemption Girl: a Redemption Girl symbol is a Wild  which takes multipliers from all symbols in the same reel and adds them to itself. If Redemption Girl is involved in a win, its multiplier is added to the Global Multiplier for the next collapse. It does not add Rat multipliers to itself.
• The Hunter: the Hunter symbol can only appear in the Enhancer row or locked boxes. When it appears on the reels, it adds a multiplier of 50x to itself and to each symbol on the reels and the Global Multiplier. It doesn’t affect Redemption Girl, Rat, Rat King and Bonus Symbols.

The Extra Spin feature gives you the chance to buy an extra spin when a bonus feature ends. Keeping the Global Multiplier and opened boxes, the cost of the spin is calculated based on the Global Multiplier and number of opened boxes. With a multitude of xMechanics including xBomb, xSplit, xWays and xWild, Rat and Rat King symbols see their multipliers (up to 25x) added to the Global Multiplier. I found the new Toxic xWays symbol to be important as it applies a 2x multiplier to itself and all instances of the revealed symbol on the reels.

Then you have the Redemption Girl symbol which takes multipliers from all symbols in the same reel and adds them to itself. If part of a win, its multiplier is added to the Global Multiplier for the next collapse. The Hunter symbol is also key as it adds a multiplier of 50x to itself and to each symbol on the reels and the Global Multiplier.

With 3 free spins modes, you benefit from a persistent Global Multiplier, open locked boxes and the Infectious xWays symbol: the latter appears in games such as Duck Hunters and Serial. It reveals a random paying symbol with a starting multiplier that matches the Global Multiplier. It then doubles the multiplier of that symbol to all the instances of the revealed symbol on the reels.

With 34,000 x bet max wins, True Grit Redemption 2 offers much higher win potential than its predecessor (20,220 x bet). For a chance of big wins, you need the various xMechanics and special symbols to combine and pop off simultaneously. I do like that there are several ways to increase position multipliers which can only increase during the free spins modes. With a brutal setting and spiteful storyline, True Grit Redemption 2 can be unforgiving but offers a chance of redemption if things go to plan.
