  • Aberdeen is EVS favourite to see snow on December 25th.
  • Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle also near the top of the market.
  • Met Office defines a White Christmas by any snow falling

As December begins, the annual tradition of betting on a White Christmas is once again front and centre with William Hill and other top UK bookmakers offering odds on snow falling across specific cities and airports on Christmas Day 2025.

From Aberdeen to London, punters can wager on where we'll see that magical festive flurry.

With northern cities once again topping the market, this year’s odds give a familiar picture, but with a few interesting twists including New York and Paris also making the shortlist.

William Hill's latest betting market makes Scottish city Aberdeen the clear favourite at evens, with a 50% implied probability of snow falling there on Christmas Day.

How Does a “White Christmas” Get Officially Declared?

According to the Met Office, a White Christmas is officially recorded if a single snowflake falls within the 24 hours of December 25th at one of their weather observation stations.

It does not have to settle and lying snow doesn’t count if it hasn’t fallen that day.

In recent years, White Christmases have become more rare, but snowfall was recorded on December 25th in 2022 and 2023 although only at isolated locations.

The last widespread white Christmas occurred in 2010.
