West Brom Sack Ramsay After Nine Games

UK betting sites have opened markets on the next permanent West Bromwich Albion manager after Eric Ramsay was dismissed following just nine matches in charge.

The 34-year-old was appointed on a two-and-a-half-year deal last month after Ryan Mason left the club, inheriting a side sitting 18th in the Championship.

Despite taking over seven points clear of the relegation zone, Albion failed to record a victory under Ramsay.

Tuesday’s 1-1 home draw with Charlton proved to be his final game.

West Brom confirmed in a statement:

“West Bromwich Albion have parted company with men's first team head coach Eric Ramsay. Assistant head coach Dennis Lawrence has also departed The Hawthorns.

First-team coach James Morrison will oversee first-team affairs on an interim basis.”

The Baggies currently sit just one point above the Championship relegation zone with BetVictor now giving odds on who will take over next.

What the expert says...
When a club is just one point above the drop zone, experience becomes a major factor. Morrison’s 2/1 price reflects the advantage of being in situ, but if results don’t improve quickly, expect movement towards experienced Championship operators.

Morrison the Early Front-Runner

Morrison has stepped in on an interim basis and bookmakers believe he could be handed the role full-time.

A former Albion favourite during his playing days, Morrison’s deep ties to the club could play a significant role if results improve during his caretaker spell.

Markets often shorten interim managers when stability and familiarity are seen as key during relegation battles.
