Chris Wilder is now 1/3 to become the next Sheffield United manager once again

Betting is now available on the next Sheffield United manager with various reports suggesting that Paul Heckingbottom is set to be sacked at the start of this week.

Sheffield United were thumped 5-0 by relegation rivals Burnley on Saturday and that was the last straw for the Blades board who have stuck by Heckingbottom so far.

Former Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is set to return to the club if reports from The Telegraph are correct and bookies have him as the 1/3 favourite in the betting market.

Wilder is seen as a hero by Blades fans for guiding them to promotion to the Premier League back in 2019 but he has a tough task on his hands to keep them up this season.

The latest odds from BetVictor say there's a 75% chance that the reports are correct and it is Wilder who takes over from Heckingbottom next.

What the expert says..
Chris Wilder will need to recreate the winning mentality of the 2016-17 and 2018-19 United teams if the Blades are to survive in the EPL.

Paul Heckingbottom reportedly on the brink of being sacked according to various sources

Monday morning saw a whole host of news publications report that Paul Heckingbottom was set to become the first Premier League manager sacked this season on Monday morning.

Sheffield United's press conference this afternoon, which was to preview their game against Liverpool on Wednesday, has been cancelled following those recent rumours.

It's seen by many that the result to Burnley on Saturday, which saw the Blades ship five goals in an important six-pointer, made owner Prince Abdullah's mind up.
