  • Darren Moore sacked as Port Vale manager following a 5-0 loss to Huddersfield Town.
  • Port Vale sit bottom of League One, 10 points from safety.
  • Darren Ferguson is 6/4 favourite to take over according to BetVictor.

Moore Dismissed as Port Vale Sink to New Low

Port Vale have parted company with Darren Moore following a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town that has left the club seven points adrift at the foot of League One.

Moore’s dismissal comes after 12 league games without a win, with his only two victories this season coming early in the campaign.

Vale's statement described the decision as “difficult but necessary”, having tried to support Moore through a prolonged slump.

The 49-year-old was brought in last season with Vale already in danger of the drop, and despite his long-term contract, results never turned around with relegation and now another crisis season following.

Who Will Be The Next Port Vale Manager?

According to BetVictor, the betting market for the next permanent Port Vale manager is now live, with some familiar names in the frame:

Leading Candidate: Darren Ferguson

Darren Ferguson currently leads the market at 6/4 to take over the struggling League One side.

With a wealth of lower-league managerial experience and multiple spells at Peterborough United, Ferguson is considered a solid option for clubs needing urgent structure and survival know-how.

What the expert says...
With Port Vale in serious danger of back-to-back relegations, this next appointment is critical. Darren Ferguson’s name stands out, especially given his track record in these kinds of League One dogfights.
