Everton's former player and current U18's manager Leighton Baines is the favourite at 1/1 to become the next Plymouth boss according to bookmakers.

Plymouth will want to act quickly to find a replacement for Schumacher if he does go with a busy festive period kicking off with a big game against Birmingham on Saturday.

BetVictor's latest odds suggest a 50% chance that Baines becomes the next Plymouth boss with various rumours linking him with the role in the past 24 hours.

Steven Schumacher is reportedly set to take over at Stoke City

Current Plymouth boss Steven Schumacher is due to take over at Stoke City in the next 48 hours with reports from Talksport saying he has agreed to move.

Schumacher has been a brilliant boss for Plymouth after getting them promoted to the Championship after 13 years away from the division with the League One title last season.

Now though it's a much different task on his hands with Stoke looking to get back into the Premier League for the first time since 2018.

What the expert says...

Stoke City will hope they have finally got a manager in Steven Schumacher who can excite the Potters faithful after the pragmatic teams of Michael O'Neil and Alex Neil.
