Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt now 1/2 to sign for Manchester United this summer
Massive transfer moves could be made in the coming weeks with the Premier League season getting underway in a fortnight's time and not many moves could be bigger than Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt moving to Manchester United.
Betting sites are offering odds on the transfer happening this summer with the latest market putting the Dutch defender at 1/2 to sign for United before the summer market closes.
Reports in The Athletic earlier today say that United have made a double offer for De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from the German giants with the proposal rejected according to journalist David Ornstein.
De Ligt and Mazraoui are represented by the same agent, Rafaela Pimenta, and they will be looking to get the deal done before the window slams shut on August 30th.
BetVictor's latest betting odds say there's a 66% chance that De Ligt signs for United this summer with no market currently available on Mazraoui's transfer chances.
Matthijs de Ligt Next Club | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Manchester United | 1/2 | 66.7% |
Any French Club | 4/1 | 20.0% |
Any Italian Club | 16/1 | 5.9% |

What the expert says...
Matthijs de Ligt's chances of reuniting with Erik ten Hag once again sit at 66% according to the latest betting odds, with bookies putting Man United as the firm favourites to sign him after a bid was rejected on Friday morning!
United reportedly made double bid with Noussair Mazraoui also potentially on the move to Old Trafford
Noussair Mazraoui would give United good options in the full-back role with Aaron Wan-Bissaka linked with a move away from the club to sign for West Ham United this summer.
Mazraoui has already reportedly agreed to a five-year deal with Man United as personal terms were accepted according to those same reports in The Athletic.
Bayern though say they need a higher fee to reach an agreement to sell both De Ligt and Mazraoui with ten Hag previously managing the pair at Ajax.
The two defenders would follow in the footsteps of Andre Onana, Lisandro Martínez and Antony in being coached by Erik ten Hag at both Ajax and Manchester United.
Betting on Premier League Favourites
Despite number of signings made Erik ten Hag is second favourite to be first manager to leave this season
Man United boss Erik ten Hag sits as the second favourite to be the first manager to leave his role in the Premier League this season on the eve of the 2024/25 campaign getting underway.
The start of July saw United trigger a one-year extension to Ten Hag's contract which stopped any immediate questions surrounding his future in charge of the club.
Those same questions though will surely crop up again if United start the season in poor form with the new board not scared of making big decisions.
First Premier League Manager to go 24/25 | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Eddie Howe | 9/2 | 18.2% |
Erik ten Hag | 11/2 | 15.4% |
Nuno Espirito Santo | 10/1 | 9.1% |
Steve Cooper | 10/1 | 9.1% |
Russell Martin | 11/1 | 8.3% |
