  • Manchester City are now 1/1 favourites to sign Marc Guehi before February 3rd, according to BetVictor.
  • Pep Guardiola is facing a defensive injury crisis and wants to bring in a centre-back urgently.
  • Arsenal and Liverpool remain in the race, with Guehi’s contract up this summer.

Man City Even-Money Favourites for Guehi

Manchester City are even-money favourites to win the race for Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi, with BetVictor going 1/1 that the 25-year-old moves to the Etihad before February 3rd 2026.

City’s need for reinforcements at centre-back has intensified following injuries to key defenders and Pep Guardiola is reportedly keen to wrap up a deal swiftly, with the City board already in contact with Guehi’s camp.

Latest betting odds for the transfer give a 50% implied probability that Guehi makes the move to the Etihad at some point this window.

Multiple outlets reported on Monday that City have engaged in talks over a potential January move for Guehi.

While the player had originally intended to wait until the summer, when more lucrative offers would be available, he is now understood to be open to the switch this month.

A Race Between Top Clubs

The 25-year-old England international has long been linked with a host of top European clubs.

Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea are all monitoring the situation, while Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have previously expressed interest.

However, City’s urgency and spending power could prove decisive.

Having already spent £65m on Antoine Semenyo this month, a move for Guehi would bring City’s net spend since January 2025 to £470m.

Guehi’s Situation at Palace

Guehi was close to a move to Liverpool on deadline day last summer before Palace boss Oliver Glasner blocked the transfer.

His current deal expires in June, meaning he can negotiate a pre-contract with overseas clubs. though a Premier League move is more likely.

Palace reportedly want £35m minimum but may be tempted to cash in rather than lose him for free in the summer.

What the expert says...
City are now in pole position and this feels like a typical Pep January move: solve a defensive issue fast and quietly. If Guehi gives the green light, expect the deal to progress quickly.
