Labour are 1/12 favourites to win next month's Kingswood By-Election
By-Election betting is back in the spotlight this week with campaigning taking place across Kingswood ahead of February's by-election with bookmakers now offering odds on who will win at the polls.
Labour are the massive betting favourites at 1/12 with the latest odds suggesting that they will fly into the Kingswood seat that is actually set to split off into three at the next General Election.
The 2023 constituency boundaries review saw plans put in place for Kingswood to split up into North East Somerset and Hanham, Bristol North East, and Filton and Bradley Stoke but this doesn't impact this by-election.
It does though mean that the winning MP will have to move seat if they wish to stand at the next General Election but this hasn't stopped the campaign trail and Labour have a 92% probability of winning the Kingswood seat.
Kingswood By-Election Winner | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Labour | 1/12 | 92.3% |
Conservatives | 6/1 | 14.3% |
Liberal Democrats | 33/1 | 2.9% |
Greens | 100/1 | 1.0% |

Conservative MP Chris Skidmore resigned from the role as Kingswood MP
Tory MP Chris Skidmore, who was energy minister under Theresa May, sensationally resigned from his role as MP for Kingswood following the government's plans to offer new licences for oil and gas drilling in the North Sea.
Skidmore has been MP in Kingswood since 2010 and 14 years on it looks like the constituency will move from Conservatives to Labour following his dramatic resignation.
Part of Skidmore's resignation discussed Rishi Sunak's latest green plans saying he was resigning, "in protest at the government's decision to prioritise and politicise new oil and gas licences above a sensible investment plan for the future".

Wellingborough By-Election also set to take place in February
February will also see another seat up for grabs in Wellingborough after Peter Bone lost his seat after being removed by constituents in a recall petition following his suspension towards the back end of 2023.
Bone was suspended as an MP over bullying and sexual misconduct claims which is something that he has firmly denied, but now his Wellingborough seat is up for grabs.
The betting odds say that it's likely that this will be another seat that the Tories lose with Labour once again heavy favourites in the betting market here at 1/7.
Wellingborough By-Election Winner | Odds | Probability |
