Rovers Hit Reset After Clarke's Dismal Run

Darrell Clarke has been sacked by Bristol Rovers following a catastrophic run of ten consecutive league defeats that has seen the club plummet to 23rd in League Two.

Saturday’s 3-0 home humiliation to Swindon Town in the M4 derby was the final straw for the Gas hierarchy with bookmakers already giving odds on who will take over next.

With fans voicing their frustration at full-time and relegation looming, the club acted swiftly to remove Clarke and assistant Jon Stead.

Despite his historic first spell with Rovers, guiding the club to back-to-back promotions in 2015 and 2016, Clarke failed to reverse their current fortunes after last season's relegation from League One.

BetVictor now have full odds up for who will be the next Bristol Rovers manager with a whole list of big names featuring in the market.

Joint-Favourites: Brady & Bloomfield

Former Northampton Town manager Jon Brady and former Luton boss Matt Bloomfield share favouritism at 5/4, with both seen as strong candidates to take on the rebuild at the Memorial Stadium.

Brady, known for solid defensive setups and building from the back, fits the mould for a side that has conceded 27 goals during this horrific losing streak.

Bloomfield is reportedly admired by Rovers' board, with the club potentially looking for a manager used to working within budget constraints.

What the expert says...
This is a critical appointment for Bristol Rovers. With League Two survival hanging in the balance, they need someone who can bring immediate stability. Jon Brady’s defensive nous or Bloomfield’s tactical acumen both make sense depending on the direction the board wants to take.

Other Contenders: Familiar Names in the Mix

Steve Evans (4/1) is an experienced EFL operator with survival pedigree.

He’s been out of work since he left Rotherham United back in March.

Tony Pulis, a name always in the conversation due to his Bristol roots, is priced at 10/1.

However, the 65-year-old hasn’t managed since his brief Sheffield Wednesday stint in 2020.

Steve Bruce (16/1) is a long shot after saying it is unlikely he would manage a club again.
