US Open Pool Championship 2025: Results

Aloysius Yapp is the 2025 US Open Pool Champion after defeating reigning champion Fedor Gorst 13-11 in an abosrobing final.

Yapp had previously made it to the final of this event in 2021 but lost out that time to Carlo Biado.

The US Open is Yapp's third major in four months after victories in the UK Open and the Florida Open.

256 players will gather in Atlantic City to contest the 2025 9-ball US Pool Open between the 18th and 23rd August 2025

The winner will take home a cool $100,000 with the runner-up receiving $50,00. The total prize fund has been increased for 2025 to $500,000

US Open Pool Championship: Format

The US Open Pool Championship is a 9-ball event played in a double-elimination format up until the round of the last sixteen where the event reverts to single elimination. 

This means the first time you lose you then enter the loser's bracket where all non-winners play off to attempt to qualify for the last sixteen.

The first two rounds are played over a race to nine racks. Round three onwards are played over a race to eleven eleven racks until the final which is a race to thirteen racks.

The final two days of the event can be watched in the UK on Sky Sports.

The table above makes for pleasant reading for the USA but their dominance is coming under question with five of the last six finals contested by non-USA players.

US Open 2024: Result

Russian born American Fedor Gorst beat the five-time previous US Pool champion Shane Van Boening 13 racks to 10 to take his first US Open.

As Gorst is now a US resident he represents the United States and, as such, this was the first all American US Pool Open Final since 1999.

Gorst made the final last year only to lose out 13-6 to Ko Ping Chung.

The two players had played an epic $100,000 first to 120 racks in ten-ball the week before with SVB running out a 120-116 winner but Gorst had the upper hand in the match that meant the most, The US Pool Championship

US Open Pool Championship 2023 Result

Two hundred and fifty six players took their places at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City in September to contest the forty-sixth renewal of the US Open Pool Championship.

Ko Ping-Chung from Taiwan took his first US Pool Championship title defeating USA's Fedor Gorst 13-6 in the Final.
