You know how punters get lost in too much data or bet blindly? I break down the stats and trends so you can feel confident you’re betting with more than just gut instinct.

2026 MotoGP World Championship Preview

The 2026 MotoGP World Championship, the 78th FIM World Championship and the 25th under the MotoGP title, gets underway on the 1st March in Thailand.

This will be the final season of the 1000cc engines, with the move to 850cc engines in 2027. This is also the final season of using Michelin tyres with the move to Pirelli in 2027.

Remember that we cover plenty of Motor Racing Betting Tips on OLBG, and we also have a Best Motor Racing Tipsters page which highlights the profitable tipsters.

Who is the favourite to win the 2026 MotoGP World Championship?

Marc Márquez heads into the new season as the reigning champion after a dominant 2025. He had the title wrapped up by round 17, which was good because a round later in Indonesia, he suffered a season-ending injury.

He still won the championship by 78 points over his brother, Álex Márquez and will head into 2026 confident. The bookies will have him close to the top of the market to claim an eighth title.

His 2025 success tied him with Valentino Rossi on seven championships, and now there is only one rider above him. That is Giacomo Agostini, who is the most successful rider with eight wins in this class, a record that Márquez could tie this season.

Ducati won their seventh constructors' title in 2025, a championship they are really dominating, having now won every single championship since 2020. That tied them with Suzuki, but they are still some way off Honda's twenty-five titles!

Are there any rider changes for 2026?

Yes! Toprak Razgatlıoğlu comes in to replace Miguel Oliveira in the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP team. He is a three-time Superbike World Champion. Diogo Moreira, the Moto2 champion from last year, also makes his debut. He has replaced Somkiat Chantra in the LCR team.

MotoGP World Championship Champions

As already touched on, Marc Márquez is the reigning champion, having won his seventh title in 2025, six years after his last title in 2019 and is now only one behind the all-time record holder for titles.

Twenty of the twenty-four world championships under the MotoGP name have now been won by a rider from either Italy or Spain. Spanish riders have twelve of those wins, with the other eight going to an Italian rider.

MotoGP Constructor Champions

Ducati have really been a dominant force of late; their first title came in 2007, and they had to wait until 2020 for their second. However, they have won the title every year since then.

In 2025, they won 17 of the 22 rounds, and in 2024, they were ridiculously good; they won 19 of the 20 rounds, only losing in the US. Their record in 2023 was also great, winning 17 of the 20 rounds, which means in the last three seasons, they have won 53 of the 62 races, that is 85% of the races, that is DOMINANCE!

They are still some way behind Honda, which has won twenty-five titles in total, twelve of those coming during the MotoGP period, whilst Yamaha has fourteen wins to their name, five of those coming under the MotoGP name.
