As much as we like winning runs, it is inevitable that you will hit losing runs too.

The process of finding winners needs a lot of time and study.

Have you found yourself enduring a losing streak recently?

broke?

You are not alone, we all go there from time to time, some more than others.

No point moaning about it, move on,..try to get back in form and you might not even have to "pay for it"!

Trusted horseracing yards not inform?

Your usually reliable Team or Player not scoring for you?

Your favoured Jockey not getting the rides for the Top yards, or simply hitting a quiet patch?

Maybe your method of approach in your staking plan should be reviewed, "until normal service is resumed"

Not wishing to teach anyone to suck eggs as it were, but here is a 6 point strategy I use, to some success as a recovery plan for my betting on all sports, primarily Horseracing & Football.

Odds in your favour

1/ To make money from betting the odds must be in your favour.

Getting the odds in your favour are infrequent and so should your bets

The Bookmakers need to do business everyday day time but is on our side and we do not need to bet every day.

Your biggest bets should be with as few live contenders (Football multiples), or runners as possible.

This is back to basics, and form study is paramount!

Review Races

2/ Read the post-race form and digest the information and watch replays.

Especially Juvenile races as these often throw up future winners.

It is so much easier to paper trade on 2yo races or use your virtual OLBG funds to evaluate form.

Yes, it does hurt when you pick a winner, and not afforded the luxury of a cash bet, but it helps to regain confidence in your form.

Bookmakers

3/ Try not to do what the Bookmaker wants you to do, and that is chase losses when you are out of form, random lucky 15s, hastily followed tips without analysis, email, shop & mobile text offers, false prices, hoping for a big get out of trouble!

Hold Fast, keep your cards and cash close to your chest, there will always be another "Payday"!

These offers can be sometimes a source of profit, but they DO monitor accounts, and see who is losing!

If you must chase losses, then do so professionally, and within your budget/allocated Betting Bank.

Betting Bank

You should always bet with a betting bank and keep your day to day expenses separate.

Betting Bank

4/ Revise your Betting Bank-Your points per stake should be reduced, and if that means pence until normality is resumed then so be it!

Discipline is the only way to actually enjoy betting!

Use your olbg virtual bank and still be up for cash or free bet prize?

Paper Trade

5/ If you paper trade when the "Bank" is low, you may find yourself more focused on the "Event" itself, rather than try to find excuses for Jockey/Sportsperson error, looking for future angles?

Be honest with yourself, and if you don,t keep records, now is a good time to start.

Paper Trading

Paper Trading consists of not risking any funds but following your selections for a period of time to see if you can make a profit. You can use the OLBG tipping competition to see how you get on.

Be Selective

6/ Consider what is actually more important, being unlucky, or out of form?

Only you can change the latter with risk discipline in your "methods of approach!"

There is an excess of horse racing, and a glut of other sports, be selective.
