I’m backing Bayadere, the lightly raced 4-year-old Awtaad filly trained by Michael Bell, in tomorrow’s Peter Hughes & ECA Memorial Handicap (Class 6, 1m 2f) at Windsor. She makes her comeback following an 8-month break post wind surgery, and showed encouraging signs when finishing fourth of seven over this course and distance at Ripon last month??'beaten about six lengths off a mark of 65 . That run also saw her backed in the betting, suggesting stable confidence. Earlier in her career, she was a consistent performer??'no wins yet but multiple placed efforts, notably at Chelmsford and Sandown . Now dropped back into Class 6 company and carrying a modest OR, the handicap project looks well timed. With Hector Crouch taking the ride, he should be able to position her prominently from the outset.

A course winner over further here and won over this trip under today's jockey at Bath on penultimate start. Could be suited by the drop in trip and ease in grade after racing over a furlong further in a Class 5 at Newbury last time out.

Ghost Story looks well placed to run a big race today at Windsor. He caught the eye last time out, finishing strongly from an unpromising position in a race where the leaders controlled things early. Despite that, he made good late ground - suggesting he's coming to hand and ready to strike. This evening's race features a few inconsistent types and lacks a standout improver, which opens the door for a more experienced handicapped runner like him. He's back over a mile, which suits him ideally, and the likely stronger pace here plays into his late running strengths.

IMPERIAL CULT hasn't been up to much lately but has now dipped to below last winning mark and drops into this weakish looking race with each-way claims with a potential bounceback on the cards sooner or later. Any rain wouldn't be a problem and the front-running style will also help here.
