4:00 Musselburgh Tips

Our Absent Friends has been kindly dropped a couple of pounds for finishing third last week, which is a little surprising given that wasn't a bad effort. He has form in better class races than this, including here at Musselburgh, and shouldn't be far away.

Won over the distance last time out at Thirsk. Up six pounds for that win, still looks well treated today. Plenty of pace in the race for him. Ground conditions today will suit. Stable going well. Should be hard to beat today.

Miss Brazen is in good form and, despite being hiked 8lb for a win and runner-up effort, has a strong chance of winning this. Recent form has worked well and finished 2nd here on sole course visit when trained by Karl Burke. Gets the highest stall draw, which is preferred here at Musselburgh, especially over 5f.

Won over this trip on soft ground at Nottingham in October 2024 off a mark of 73 and races off 68 here. He has also won over this trip on good to firm so is ground versatile and looks to be on a tempting mark.

Everything this trainer touches at the moment turns to gold, and this one looks a cracking e/w bet at 8/1 to finish in the first 3. The horse has arguably been racing on ground that's too lively for much of the season, but he looks a better horse on ground just the softer side of good. Mulrennan is booked for just the 2nd time, and despite going up the handicap recently, the horse is still well handicapped on some of his 2yo form. His maiden win from Educating Rita, for example, would suggest that he's well capable of winning off this mark with seemingly his ideal conditions here.

Good Point has shown signs of ability, he was hit with a fairly harsh rating at the start of his career. A little unruly on return to this course last time. This looks a good opportunity to get down to business and show some of his earlier form when some of his better runs came when having to deal with tough conditions.

Should give this a good go. Ran well last time out, 2nd best speed rating in the field, and is running into form, dropping in grade.

Comes here at the lowest mark. Had a good run here recently, finishing a respectable 4th. First time ride for jockey who tends to ride very well at this course. Each way play here.
