Soca Star is a 2-year-old filly trained by sprint specialists John & Sean Quinn. She has finished 3/3/3 in three attempts, so she brings plenty of experience to the table against some debutants from top stables. On her penultimate start, she was beaten 2.75 lengths behind Venetian Sun and Argentine Tango, a horse who has won her next two races in class 2 company (the latter in a listed race) and looks very progressive, now rated 94. Venetian Sun went a step further, winning at Royal Ascot, landing the Group 3 Albany Stakes, beating 16 rivals, and is now rated 105. That race was at Carlisle, and Beverley is a very similar type of track; right-handed, stiff, with an uphill straight. Soca Star can get off the mark at the fourth time of asking under Jason Hart.

The class angle in this field, having run in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. Struggled there, but this is a much lower level, and that experience should come to good use.

Found trouble in running last time out when could've gotten a lot closer. One to keep an eye on at bigger prices and top stable.

Is well drawn and this first-season sire, Palace Pier, looks to have produced some quality offspring already. Well drawn in stall two to go well from the start.

With 55 Mehmas offspring achieving victories on the flat, this filly has a bright future ahead, particularly with her Dam being a winner from 7f to 1m. Kevin Ryan's stable excels with debutants, so the 20/1 odds present a fantastic opportunity for an each-way wager.
