5:15 Ayr Tips

Kept on well when winning over a mile in Ireland last time out, despite not getting a clear run and under today's jockey. Drops in trip and the first time cheekpieces offer further potential improvement.

Been running well in defeat recently and is now on a very useful-looking mark. Former CD winner and might have done better last time if not for traffic problems in the closing stages.

Darbucks is a 6-year-old gelding trained by Christopher Keller. He has 4 wins out of 31 on turf. His fourth-place finish in May is his best effort this season and took his Ayr record to 2322214, making him a course specialist. Darbucks is a three-time winner over 7f and once over CD. He is ground versatile and has won on soft twice and heavy, so he won't mind any rain (good also). Jason Hart rides, and he has been plundering class 5/6 races at Ayr since 2012 if riding horses on 8st 12 or higher, being 43/235 winners, showing a healthy LSP of £102.15. In class 5/6 events at Ayr in 2025, Jason Hart has form figures of 8-1-5-1-2-2-1-2-1-2. Darbucks' last four wins have come off handicap marks of 54-58-56-58, so today's mark of 55 holds no fears and has to be respected despite top weight.

Janna's Journey changed yards in May on the return and has shown improvement with each run, with the latest being here in a classified outing and fourth. So, she has C&D and has dropped to a 47, which I think gives her an EW 4P chance among today's runners.

Interesting entry as A. McGuinness doesn't normally run his horses much at Ayr. With the trip and ground suitable, it is in with an each-way shout. 3-year-old and still improving. Each-way prospect.

Well beaten at Newcastle ten days ago but had previously been beaten only narrowly in consecutive races at Redcar. Early indications are that the filly prefers grass to artificial surfaces, so Newcastle run best ignored. Would appear to have every chance of success on the form shown at Redcar.

Risky tip so just a small chance, a very small each-way tip for this horse who definitely needs improvement but, he's still very lightly raced on turf so it's difficult to rule out some further progress and he does run from what looks like a fair rating.

Cheese The One is a bit in and out, but at 28/1, a chance is taken on her first run on turf for nearly 2 years. She looks to be on a good mark and may get a soft lead up front.
