A 4-time career winner on the flat who last won over 1 mile at Killarney in the summer of 2023 off a mark of 83 for a previous trainer. Form regressed after that but has shown signs of a revival recently with 2 second-place finishes off a much-reduced mark. The last one was when finishing powerfully at Leopardstown last Thursday from a very wide draw when the winner had kicked on from the field. Big chance on that form if keeping closer to the pace.

Ignore his last run where he had excuses. He was well-backed that day and his prior form is solid. At these odds, he represents strong each-way value to bounce back.

Is drawn high but should at least go forward from there. The jockey has really impressed me in recent weeks and, along with her father, has already stuck in handicaps in the recent meetings. The soft ground should be manageable for this lad, and his success over further provides additional reassurance that this could work out. Clear chance if away quickly enough.

Saith Seren is a 4-year-old filly trained by Andrew Lee. She has yet to win in eight starts, but her best run came three starts back when finishing 2/13 at Killarney on heavy ground, beaten just 1/2 length off 52 behind Martinelli, who won again on June 11th in a first time tongue tie. She runs today off the same mark of 52 under Gavin Ryan in first-time blinkers and could go close to breaking her maiden tag today, particularly if we get some rain.

Poppadom is a 22-race maiden but has dropped to his lowest ever mark of 45. His better form has been on the soft side of good, and there may be sufficient showers at Gowran before racing to make conditions soft enough for Poppadom to perform to his best. His ten-pound claiming jockey has also yet to win a race in 51 rides, but today might be the day.

May Night seems like an odd choice on face value, but on closer examination, just looking at the runs with cheekpieces: 11357, which includes a win 69 in May last year. Today, running off 54 with them reattached, I will take as significant.

This is the trainer's only entry he's got out today, and they have got the regular jockey back on board as this is his only ride of the day. A good value each-way bet for the 5 places available.

Dazzling Spirit, ridden by Wesley Joyce, could be showing more here today back on soft ground than she did on good at Killarney, where she was made favourite. She ran well on return with a third place here. Either ground or bounce factor could be the case with the average run last time out, which sees the handicapper having her on a mark of 40. Her best mark is 63, with winning at Leopardstown on soft ground back in 2022. Now twenty-three pounds lower, plus Wesley Joyce takes three pounds off, we could be seeing a solid performance from the seven-year-old mare.

I’m backing Suityourselfboss in tomorrow’s 1 m Societies Welcome Handicap at Gowran Park. This 6-year-old mare by Red Jazz, trained by Michael J. Browne, arrives off the back of a couple of tidy efforts earlier this spring. She finished a close second on yielding ground at Gowran in April and came home eighth here over the same trip in early May. Given that form, and carrying a modest handicap mark in a wide 38-runner field, she looks primed to run her race again, especially as the forecast suggests softer turf will be on tomorrow’s card. Her breeding and tactical style both play into that changeable ground; she’s shown her best when the surface gives a bit, and a softening turf should bring out her stamina and give her mid-race gear a chance to kick in. With jockey S. Coen on board, she should settle nicely behind the main pack before producing a well-timed run in the home straight.
