Benz is having his first run back since he had surgery for a broken pelvis. Connections are hoping for a nice, clear round. But this is a poor race, and Benz is on a nice mark and will love the ground, so a place is not out of the question.

QUINN THE ESKIMO is bred to be effective under both codes and surely has claims racing from the same handicap hurdles mark as last time. That was his debut in handicap company and he shaped as if this stiffer test would suit. Sharper now with the yard among the winners he appears to have found a winning chance.

Malbas overcame a switch in yards and first run for 129 days to win at Fairyhouse by 2.5 lengths on last run - beating 13 horses that day, including the current favourite of this race by 6 lengths. Travelled smoothly and jockey only needed to go for the whip after last fence to win with likely more to give. 8lb hike in the weights may not be enough to stop repeat victory. Only previous run at this track was finishing 2nd of 19.

Coming off an impressive win last month at Kilbeggan. 5lb rise isn't a stretch by any means. Should be a big player today.

Farrokh stands out as a serious contender in today’s 2m1½f handicap hurdle at Down Royal. While he’s still a maiden, his recent form is consistent and promising. He placed in each of his last three runs??'finishing second or third??'against similar competition over comparable distances. Trained by Barry Connell and partnered with jockey E. Walsh, Farrokh carries a fair weight (11-12) and has already proven he can be competitive in these conditions. His tenacity and ability to stay on in testing finishes make him a solid each-way proposition in a wide-open field. When you’re dealing with such open races, consistency is a huge plus. Farrokh has shown he's knocking on the door and today could be the day he finally breaks through. Backing him each-way makes perfect sense at these odds.

Interesting runner here as he's with top trainer Gordon Elliot. He has tumbled down the weights and has a very capable claimer on board. Despite being from 17 over hurdles, he wasn't beaten far when 14 lengths 5th last time. Today could be the day.

Ran pretty well first time up last year. Although four pounds higher than for its last win, the horse in front looks likely to enjoy the stiff extended two miles, the good ground, and the five-pound claimer aboard. Has two in-form horses to beat in Malbas and Tubberfinn Lady.

Western Commandor is the only CD runner in this lineup. Although it looks out of form with its figures, it's been going over trips looking too far for it. So, it looks tempting back over this shorter distance for the Hanlons.
