The Memorial Tournament Tips

The world number 1 is in top form. He has won 2 out of his last 3 events. He won the CJ Cup and Byron Nelson, which included a 1st round 61. He finished 31 under. He also won another major, the PGA Championship. He will be the one to beat.

Near the top of this match, I am going to side with Collin Morikawa as he is in good form. He is experienced, and with this course playing to his strengths, he should have a good chance to win.

Justin Thomas missed the cut in the PGA. However, including a win, he has had six Top Ten finishes on the PGA Tour since the start of the year.

Xander Schauffele was 8th at Memorial last year and has many top 20 finishes at this course. His recent form is also good with top 20 in 4 of last 5 events. I can see him winning this week.

Patrick Cantlay is a two-time winner of this event in the past and seems to keep some of his best golf for this tournament. He has been playing well enough this season and can go well here again.

Ludvig Aberg has not been at his best so far this season, but did play well in the Masters in April. He has gone well in his one start here in the past and is a player that can go well for us this week.

Tommy Fleetwood should finally win a PGA event at some point. He is too good to not achieve that. 4th, 4th, 7th in 3 out of the last 4 tournaments he played. T20 finish last year at Memorial. I feel he will top that and will compete for the W.

Corey Conners is a top 20 player almost every week. Since March, his finishes are: 3, 6, 8, 18, 49, 11, 19. A couple of top 20 finishes in the last three years at the Memorial Tournament. I will play him at good odds.

Viktor Hovland has 7 PGA Tour victories to his name but was disappointing last year. He came back to form in March when winning the Valspar Championship. He won this event in 2023, so obviously can go well here. With many big names missing, he should be well up the leaderboard.

Hideki Matsuyama was 8th at The Memorial Tournament last year. He is among contenders this year as well. The Sentry winner this season, Matsuyama will look to add another trophy to his collection this week.

Shane Lowry can go well this week. Shane Lowry has been having a very good year and has finished inside the top 20 three times at this competition before. He can go well this week as he is in good form.

Matt Fitzpatrick had a rough streak, but he is getting closer to good form. He played well at the Truist Championship, where he came 23rd, and then he finished T8 at the PGA Championship. Still good odds on a player like him as his form is getting better.

After really promising starts in this competition for the last two years, Straka has failed in his last rounds to drop out for claiming the top prize. He is seemingly at the top of his game this season, so he may well be able to maintain his decent starts into Saturday and Sunday and compete for the top prize this time around.

Si Woo Kim can go well this week. Si Woo Kim has been in very good form and has performed very well in this competition in the last four years. He has four top 20 finishes in the last couple of months and can do well this week.

Denny McCarthy has a couple of top 5 finishes in the last three years at Memorial Tournament. He was T8 at PGA Championship and can follow it with a win here.

J.T. Poston is currently ranked 36 on the OWG Rankings list. A 3-time winner on the PGA Tour. Finished T5 at the recent US PGA Championship. Each way chance.

Sungjae Im can go well this week. Sungjae Im missed the cut in the PGA Major last time and has taken a week off. He is back this week and in a competition that he has two top 10 finishes from his last three tries at Muirfield.

Form of his life at the moment. Anybody guess how he takes to today's course. Had a top three 3 times from last 6 tournaments with one of them as a win.

Harris English is currently 16 on the OWG Rankings list. Won this year's Farmers Insurance Open and finished T2 at the recent US PGA Championship.

Cracking 2024 with two PGA Tour wins. Played well last week with -7. This course should suit his style of play if he can keep momentum from last week's performance.

Taylor Pendrith was T5 at the PGA Championship. It was his second T5 finish this year. Winner of the PGA tournament last season. Pendrith is very good when in form.

At 90s, Akshay Bhatia is a great price for a player who should have done better at last week's Charles Schwab Challenge after shooting rounds of 67-66-69, until a final round 74 spoiled a great tournament for the American. At 23, and two PGA Tour wins, Bhatia has the game and current form to achieve a top 6 at the Memorial!

Ryan Fox has already won this year on the PGA Tour and could finish in the top six at the Memorial Tournament at 125-1.

Jhonattan Vegas has been playing well this year and could be overpriced at 175-1 for the Memorial Tournament. He could finish in the top six.

Xander Schauffele consistently shows good results at Memorial and has every chance to win this year. Decent form right now, injury doesn't bother him anymore. The win should come soon.

I like his chances to be in the top 4 this weekend in the US group. Some nice value here if he can stay consistent.

Scheffler is huge favourite for top American, but last week showed that he is only human and can't win every week. Instead I like Cantlay to win it. Patrick is 2019 and 2021 winner of The Memorial Tournament.

Has been consistently doing pretty well this season, although disappointing at last week's US PGA Tournament. With his short game in particular in a good place, he can bounce back to being in contention this week.

Straka claimed the victory last weekend, and I like his chances to be right there this weekend. He is ranked 3rd in the world.
