2024 Gamely Stakes Preview
This Grade 1 race is scheduled to take place in May of each year at the Santa Anita racecourse and is known as the Gamely Stakes. The race is run over a distance of one mile and one-eighth of a mile (9f) and is restricted to fillies and mares who are aged three or older.
The race was initially run at the Hollywood Park Racetrack and when created in 1939 was known as the Long Beach Handicap run over one mile although the race did not make its debut until 1968 when it was run on the dirt, it is now run on the turf.
