The test was not the first time I have played this game which provides a mechanic very much along the lines of Razor Shark without the hopeless helplessness that game provides.

To that end the win frequency was pleasingly high at 24 from 100, but moreover, the average winning spin, without hitting a bonus round was a nice 3.69 contributing to an overall session RTP percentage of 88.6%

Graphics, Music, and Sound Effects

Once you launch the game, you'll find yourself below the waves in a sleepy sea, bursting with swaying seagrass and kelp. Aquamarine colours fill the screen and the reels include a selection of rainbow-coloured seashells.

Theme – Fishing

Play Experience & First Impressions

The game is a gentle slots experience with lots of soothing creatives, colours and sounds. It was straightforward to follow which is always a bonus (pardon the pun)! The Fish Symbols work well to represent the Instant Win prizes. 

When the Fisherman Symbol lands on a Net Symbol the Fisherman then collects the Instant Prize values attached to the Fish Symbol that are in view. You need to match a minimum of 3 Fish Symbols from the leftmost reels to get a win. I kept looking out for this after each spin and was very happy when I caught a few. The Net Symbol graphics worked splendidly with the other symbols for catching prizes. The overlay look in stacks of 4 was visually striking on the reels and the way they nudged down the reels worked well. The possibility of entering the bonus round kept the excitement building up. Several times, 2 Bonus Symbols landed and it looked like a third would too but it was a case of close but no cigar which was a shame. 

Has the Fish ‘n’ Nudge game reeled me in? I asked myself this question as I typed up this review. The answer is - umm, halfway. The setting and atmosphere made for a relaxing gaming experience and I enjoyed the features. However, is it cutting-edge? No, not really. I’m on the fence about fishing-themed games. I don't love or hate them, they are pleasant enough. But there are bucketloads of them out there to choose from. The graphics were bright and cheery but they weren't as sleek as the ones in Razor Returns another recent underwater adventure by Push Gaming. And the theme wasn't as niche as their last game Goat Getter which was hugely entertaining. There wasn’t really a storyline or characters which makes it less likely to stick in your mind.

But hey, the proof is in the pudding…oops, I mean features. The collection of prizes was an inventive feature with the net overlay.  When the free spins round was triggered it was fun seeing what amount of multipliers would trigger and how this affected the round. 

Would I recommend Fish ‘n’ Nudge to you? Yes, if you fancy a relaxing play then yes, why not give it a go? Especially if you enjoy the fishing-themed slots which are all the rage at the moment.
