Now that I've talked about the summary, intro, graphics, music, and sound effects. Up next, are the key game features.
At OLBG we write slot games reviews that include up-to-date info about all of the essential features such as the theme, paylines, reels and bonuses. I’ll conclude the review by covering the play experience & first impressions and expert verdict.
Theme – Pirates
When carrying out some research for this review I googled pirate words and phrases and wow there are bucketloads out there! One of my favourites is ‘Shiver Me Timbers’ which was my reaction when I saw the huge list of terms!
The setup of the game is typically pirateesque (that’s not really a word, but stay with me). The story shows a lone ghost pirate navigating the stormy seas in a haunted ship. He’s steering the vessel towards a creepy island covered in ghoulish green mist - maybe this is where the booty is hidden? The sun has just about finished setting and nightfall is close at hand which is a scary prospect.
When you trigger the bonus game you’ll flip into another scene set in a concealed cave filled to the brim with gold coins, gems and weapons that the pirates have previously plundered.
On the reels, you’ll discover the following character symbols (in order from the highest first) - a pirate, a compass, a spyglass (telescope), an hourglass plus a scroll and magnifying glass. These are followed by the general symbols of, A, K, Q, J,10 & 9. The images on the reels are carved into wooden planks which ties in well with the pirate ship theme.
Reels
When playing the Bones and Bounty slot game you’ll find 6 reels by 4 rows.
Paylines
You can land winning combos on 4,096 non-adjustable paylines.
RTP
RTP is an acronym for ‘Return to Player’ which you’ll see across all slot sites. It’s a way of forecasting what percentage of a player’s stakes will be turned to them theoretically over the long run. On average it’s usually somewhere between 94% - 96%. Bones and Bounty slightly exceeds this RTP at 96.16%.
Like most game creators, Thunderkick uses this RTP rate as a default value. So you can shop around for different RTP rates across various sites. To save you some time we’ve identified a few at some of the popular UK online casinos and added them to the table below.
RTP isn't the only thing to think about when deciding which site to play at. You should also consider factors such as payment options, game titles, customer support and welcome bonuses and deals. If you read our casino reviews we analyse these things and much more.
Do you want to play more than one game? Most players do. If this sounds like you, you’ll want to take a look at this page we created with the slot sites we recommend. There are literally hundreds of games within this list of sites. And the good news is that if you're in the UK, you can play them straight away.
Stake Range
There's a wide bet range for the Bones and Bounty game which starts with £0.10 and goes right up to £100.
Max Win
I’m happy to report that there’s good news on the max win front. You can win up to 25,000x your total stake when playing Bones and Bounty.
Wild Shape
There are two Wild Symbols for the Bones and Bounty game. The classic Wild Symbol substitutes for all other symbols apart from the Bonus Symbol. There is also the larger Stacked Respin Wild Symbol which when triggered during the base game, locks into place and triggers a respin for you.
Free Spins
Free Spins take place within the Cash Bonus Game, there are a few interesting components to this bonus round. The bonus game is triggered when the Bonus meter is filled with 3 Bonus Symbols in the base game. You then flip in a new scene which is set in a cave filled with all sorts of stolen treasure which is there for the taking. When the Cash Bonus game commences, ordinary reels are replaced with special reels containing cash Coin Symbols with various bet multiplier values.
When the Cash Bonus Game begins you’ll receive 3 Free Spins. Here you may trigger the Shift Feature after each spin. How it works is that if new symbols land on an empty position, the Free Spins are reset to 3. Then the shift is triggered, causing all current symbols to move one position to the right.
During the Bonus Round, there is a Ghost Reel added after the 5th reel on the right. Any symbols that reach the Ghost Reel are multiplied by the value of the reel and moved back to a random position in the game area. There are some fab symbols to look out for during the Bonus Round. Firstly, if a Cash Coin Symbol lands on another Cash Coin, their values are added together. If a Multiplier Cash Symbol lands it will upgrade the Ghost Reel value and then transfer into a Cash Coin. And finally, if a Persistent Payer Symbol reaches the Ghost Reel it increases all cash symbols by its current value. So to summarise, there are a ton of things to entertain you with.
Jackpot
Most slot games nowadays do not have a jackpot element and the Bones and Bounty slot game is no exception. If you fancy playing a jackpot game you should visit our page with the best jackpot slot games.
Play Experience & First Impressions
The bonus game is stacked with several layers and is where the lion’s share of the features can be found. In particular, the Shift Feature was exciting and triggered for me oodles of times. Here you receive 3 more Free Spins plus all of the current symbols move one place to the right which certainly mixes things up.
The Ghost Reel looked excellent visually and it was a highlight seeing the symbols reach the Ghost Reel, receive their multipliers and then move back to a random position. A few times the Persistent Payer Symbol reached the Ghost Reel so here any current cash symbols were increased by its current value.
Within the base game, there’s the Stacked Respins Wilds. I’m a big fan of stacked symbols as there are more chances to win with this feature. Plus, again, visually it looks striking on the reels. In this game, the stacked Wilds can cover 2 - 4 positions and they brought in some decent wins for me.
