Test Comments

The 100 spins test for this new game from Thunderkick went quite well - Indeed and above theoretical RTP session is always good ans this delivered with a session return of 116.9x, all thanks to a really good average winning spin value of over 5x, despite just 23 winning spins and no bonus round landed, 

The biggest base game win was an impressive 36x, but was accompanied with several more good value wins including a 25.6x a 10x and several 7x wins too - a return of 116.90x across 100 spins without a bonus is very nice.

We are transported to an Alien land, and have J, W, K, A symbols along with members of the public and some aliens - These are accompanied by members of the human public as high-value symbols, aliens, even better, and wilds.

Graphics, Music, and Sound Effects

The sound effects and accompanying music are not distracting and fit well with the theme - The visuals are sharp and colourful and the important premium symbols pop out as they should making wins instantly identifiable.

There is quite a cool bonus scatter symbol in the form of an animated TV and in fact, all symbol animation is complementary rather than confusing

Theme – Space and Alien Invasion

While sometimes a theme can be a tenous thing with a slot game with only passing reference to the supposed subject there is no doubt that with ZAP Attack and the log of a flying Saucer, this game is about space and Aliens and they appear in abundance in the game symbols and features

Reels

Zap Attack a lot is played on a 5x5 board set up and for simplicity there are no expanding reels, addition columns or anything. It remains 5x5 throughout the base game and the bonus game too

Paylines

There are 25 win lines in the base game, and this figure is retained for the bonus game. Again, a simple pay line premise and it works wonderfully

The flying saucer spacecraft is the Wild symbol in Zap Attack, but you you two possibilities - There is a standard stand-alone wild which replaces any other symbol to make winning lines, but the better one, is the expanding, 'Invading Wild', which, if landing and assisting with a winning line, will expand to cover the entire reel, very handy as it also has the possibility of landing a multiplier to those wins too up to 5x

Landing three bonus TV symbols will gain you 7 free spins, although you can land, 4 or 5 as well, with a max of 15 free spins to be won.

The free spins round begins with the four premium symbol characters on the right of the screen, the idea is for these to be shot and transformed into aliens to be replaced in the bonus game. The way this happens is if an Alien should land on a spin, if he has a laser gun he takes one pot shot at the premium. Each of the four premium symbols can be transformed into more Aliens on the reel offering more winning chances for the most valuable symbol, or indeed, further aliens with more ray guns to transform more Humans.

Each time a human is transformed, an extra free spin is awarded, all the time, increasing aliens on the play board which can also land with invading wild multipliers

Play Experience & First Impressions

My first impression was good visual elements, a nice soundtrack and sound effects. Play is quick enough, and there can be periods of dead spins, but winning spins are generally above stake which is a nice change to many games these days. I liked the game instantly, and the bonus game is a decent concept, although not entirely unique. I played the 100 spin test and it was a good experience, above theoretical RTP which is always nice, although if I am entirely honest, it didn't leave me desperate to come back for more, although its certainly not a game that I would dismiss and never play again - I liked it, is the best I can come up with.

Zap Attack from Thunderkick is a good game from a reliable studio, with whom you know you will generally be playing a high volatility slot and should be ready for dead spins sessions but a good base game wins.
