Backlash Returns And So Does Roman Reigns

WWE Backlash 2026 is one of the most-anticipated premium live events of the year, and UK betting sites are already seeing plenty of activity across the card ahead of the Tampa showpiece.

Taking place on Saturday, May 9 at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida, this year's Backlash carries a sense of genuine consequence.

It is the first major premium live event since WrestleMania 42, and the fallout from that night shapes almost every match on the card.

Roman Reigns walked out of WrestleMania 42 as World Heavyweight Champion and reunited with The Usos on the Raw after WrestleMania.

Now, barely weeks later, he faces the most dangerous member of his own family, his cousin Jacob Fatu.

Roman Reigns vs Jacob Fatu: The Main Event Breakdown

WWE Backlash 2026's main storyline begins and ends with Roman Reigns.

The Tribal Chief reclaimed the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42 in what was widely regarded as one of the standout moments of the entire weekend.

Following that on Raw the night after, reunification with Jey and Jimmy Uso felt like a full-circle moment.  Until Jacob Fatu interrupted proceedings and made clear he wanted everything Reigns had, including the title.

Fatu is no ordinary challenger. He has been one of WWE's most physically imposing and unpredictable forces, and his willingness to attack his own family member speaks to a ruthlessness that cannot be underestimated.

Reigns himself initially doubted whether Fatu deserved the shot, but after being attacked, he accepted the challenge. That backstory adds genuine edge to what is already a fascinating blood-versus-title dynamic.

The betting market, however, tells a clear story. Reigns is priced at a staggering 1/50 to win, a level of favouritism that leaves almost no room for an upset in the eyes of the bookmakers.

The Rest of the Card: Breakker, Sky and More

Beyond the headline bout, there is plenty to get stuck into across the rest of the Backlash card.

The match between Bron Breakker and Seth Rollins is one of the most evenly priced of the night, with Breakker at 4/5 and Rollins at 10/11, a the market essentially calling this one a coin flip.

Paul Heyman in Breakker's corner adds an unpredictable element, and given Heyman's history of turning big moments, this could be the contest that delivers the night's biggest surprise.

What the expert says...
Roman Reigns at 1/50 is essentially a formality in the eyes of the market, and it's hard to argue. He just won the title at WrestleMania 42, and WWE aren't stripping it from him weeks later. If there's any betting angle here, it's looking at match-level prop markets rather than the outright result.
