I break betting odds news as it happens, so you’re never left behind when the market moves or a top offer lands.

  • White Christmas is now 4/9 with major UK bookmakers, giving it a 69% chance based on implied probability.
  • Snowfall in October is also likely with Aberdeen and Edinburgh favourites to see it first.
  • Scotland remains the snowiest region with Cairngorm Chairlift averaging 76 snow days per year.

White Christmas Odds Now Odds-On as Cold Weather Sweeps the UK

With the UK gripped by an early cold snap, betting sites have slashed the odds on a White Christmas in 2025.

Snow on Christmas Day is now priced at 4/9, making it odds-on for the first time this season which is a clear shift in confidence as weather forecasts begin to turn frosty.

The festive betting market is always a popular one among punters and with the cold weather arriving early this year, anticipation for a snow-filled December 25th is rising.

According to Met Office standards, a single snowflake observed falling at any official weather station during the 24 hours of Christmas Day is enough to confirm a White Christmas and betting markets are buzzing with activity as the odds continue to tighten.

What Counts as a White Christmas?

The Met Office defines a White Christmas as “a single snowflake observed falling in the 24 hours of December 25th” whether by a human observer or via an official automated weather station.

Importantly, snow does not have to settle for the declaration to be made.

While snow is common in the UK, it doesn’t always fall on Christmas Day.

On average the UK experiences 13 days of lying snow per year though this varies greatly depending on geography.

Unsurprisingly, Scotland sees the most snow overall, with Cairngorm Chairlift recording an average of 76 snow days per year making it the snowiest location in the country.

October Snow? Latest Odds Say It’s Likely

Before we even reach December, punters are also betting on snowfall in October 2025.

With cold air already pushing down from the north, odds have moved strongly in favour of early flakes:

Expert Insight

What the expert says...
The market for a White Christmas always heats up as soon as the first frost hits and this year is no different. At 4/9, the odds suggest a strong chance of snow on the big day but with UK weather as unpredictable as ever, nothing is guaranteed. Keep an eye on regional forecasts and updated odds if you’re getting involved.
