- Fulham are 10/11 favourites to sign Raheem Sterling before the January window closes, with Chelsea open to letting the winger leave.
- Newcastle United are out of the running, despite previous links, with West Ham (12/1) and Leeds (18/1) showing interest.
- Sterling’s £300,000-a-week wages remain a significant barrier to most potential suitors.
Fulham 10/11 Favourites to Sign Sterling in January Window
Raheem Sterling’s Chelsea career appears to be winding down and with the winger having not played for the club since the summer of 2024, attention turns to where he could be headed next.
According to the latest odds from Bet365, it’s Fulham who lead the betting at 10/11, with Marco Silva reportedly keen to bolster his attacking options this window.
While Newcastle had previously been linked, they have now drifted in the market, suggesting a move to St James’ Park is unlikely.
Sterling, now 31, spent part of last season on loan with Arsenal but remains one of Chelsea’s highest earners and was part of the so-called “bomb squad”, a group of players the club had earmarked for permanent exits under former manager Enzo Maresca.
New Blues boss Liam Rosenior appears to have no plans to change that stance.
Fulham Favourites but Wages a Major Obstacle
At 10/11, Fulham are priced as slight favourites to sign Sterling, but as ever with players on such large contracts, financials could make or break any deal.
Sterling is reportedly still earning around £300,000 a week, which limits the pool of clubs that can make a viable offer or at the very least, one that wouldn't require a contribution from Chelsea.
That figure makes even a short-term loan problematic for most mid-table sides unless the Blues agree to cover a chunk of his wages.
However, Fulham do have space in the squad and may view Sterling as a key short-term addition as they look to build on a strong first half of the season.
Newcastle Drifting, West Ham and Leeds Lurking
Newcastle had been among the early favourites, but interest now appears to have cooled significantly.
At 6/1, the Magpies have drifted in the market, likely due to both wage structure limitations and a reluctance to take on another senior forward without offloading.
Meanwhile, West Ham at 12/1 and Leeds at 18/1 represent outsider interest but there’s no denying the appeal Sterling could offer to both clubs in terms of experience and impact.
The 2/1 price on Sterling staying at Chelsea shows there’s still a decent chance that a move won’t materialise this window.
Lack of first-team opportunities under Rosenior may be frustrating, but unless a club comes in with a serious proposal or Sterling agrees to lower his wage demands he could remain in limbo until the summer.
