As the hunt starts for the next Shrewsbury Town manager, betting odds are now here on potential candidates to take over at New Meadow.

Shrewsbury Town are on the hunt for a new manager following Gareth Ainsworth's reported departure to Gillingham.

Ainsworth, who took charge at Shrewsbury in November 2024, leaves the club rooted at the bottom of League One which intensifies the urgency to find a successor who can steer the team towards safety.

Reports in the Shropshire Star say that the club were "desperate to keep Ainsworth" but that he rejected any sort of extension to his contract.

Who are contenders in the market?

With no clear favourite at this early stage, betting odds are expected to fluctuate as interviews progress and names emerge.

Michael Duff leads the market and is an obvious candidate due to his reputation in the EFL and his past success with Cheltenham and Barnsley.

Craig Harrison, currently with The New Saints in Wales, has been quietly linked with EFL roles recently and boasts multiple domestic titles.
