Shrewsbury Town are on the hunt for a new manager following Gareth Ainsworth's reported departure to Gillingham. 

Ainsworth, who took charge at Shrewsbury in November 2024, leaves the club rooted at the bottom of League One which intensifies the urgency to find a successor who can steer the team towards safety.

Reports in the Shropshire Star say that the club were "desperate to keep Ainsworth" but that he rejected any sort of extension to his contract.
