  • Norwich City have sacked head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup following a poor run of form, leaving the team 14th in the Championship
  • Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will take interim charge for the remaining fixtures
  • Russell Martin is 2/1 favourite in the next Norwich manager odds, followed by Gary O’Neil and Steve Cooper

Norwich Sack Thorup as Russell Martin Heads Betting to Take Over

Norwich City have sacked head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup after just 11 months in charge, with the Canaries now turning their attention to long-term replacements.

Thorup, who was brought in from Danish side Nordsjælland last summer, failed to deliver consistent results in the Championship and departs with the club outside the play-off places.

In a bold interim move, Jack Wilshere will take charge for Norwich’s final two games of the season after previously being a first team coach under Thorup.

The betting market for the next Norwich manager has reacted quickly with former player Russell Martin emerging as the early 2/1 favourite to return to Carrow Road, where he spent seven years.

BetVictor's odds give an implied probability of 33.3% that Martin takes over as manager of the Canaries.

What the expert says...
With Russell Martin the early favourite, it’s clear the market expects Norwich to turn to someone who understands the club and the Championship landscape. However, Jack Wilshere’s short-term appointment could gather momentum if results go his way.

Johannes Hoff Thorup dismissed after home loss to Millwall

Norwich have been in poor form in recent months with six defeats in eight Championship games seeing the club decide to make a managerial change.

With the club in 14th place in the table and 13 points off the play-offs they will be looking for a new manager to fight for promotion next season.

Sporting Director Ben Knapper said, "Unfortunately recent results and performances have deemed it necessary for us make a change."
