Mike Williamson left MK Dons to join Carlisle after release clause met

40-year-old manager Mike Williamson took over at Carlisle United on Thursday after a financial agreement was made between MK Dons and United for the move.

Williamson will take a number of his coaching staff with him too with Ian Watson, Chris Bell and Carl Magnay all joining him up north in Carlisle.

The Blues have chosen Williamson as the successor to Paul Simpson who was dismissed at the end of August.

The Dons are 12/1 to win League 2 this season

Despite starting the season as one of the favourites to win League Two, MK Dons are now out to 12/1 to win the league after their poor start sees them sit in 20th in the table.

The Dons will be looking to change things round and the departure of Williamson could be a blessing in disguise for the club following their opening 6 games.

With just 2 wins and four losses to kick off their campaign, whoever comes in will be looking to change things around quickly this season.
