I break betting odds news as it happens, so you’re never left behind when the market moves or a top offer lands.

  • Ange Postecoglou is 2/1 favourite to return to Celtic following Brendan Rodgers' resignation
  • Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney (both 3/1) are also leading contenders, with O’Neill currently in interim charge
  • Celtic have confirmed that the process to appoint a permanent manager is now underway

Brendan Rodgers' second spell at Celtic Park is officially over after the club confirmed his resignation on Monday evening.

The former Liverpool and Leicester boss leaves with immediate effect after a mixed start to the season, despite a successful trophy haul over his two terms.

Attention now turns to who will take the reins next and it’s a familiar name at the top of the betting.

Postecoglou to Make a Celtic Comeback?

Ange Postecoglou's return to Celtic would be one of the most dramatic stories of the season and the betting experts are starting to price it as a serious possibility.

The former Tottenham and Nottingham Forest boss left Celtic in June 2023 after delivering five trophies in two seasons, including a domestic treble in 2022/23.

After leaving Forest, the 2/1 odds suggest a return is not out of the question, particularly given Postecoglou's emotional connection with the Glasgow club.

O’Neill & Maloney Lead Interim Setup

Martin O’Neill, who won three league titles during his first spell in charge of Celtic between 2000 and 2005, has returned in a surprise interim role alongside former player Shaun Maloney.

Both men are now in the running to take the job permanently, each priced at 3/1.

A return for Neil Lennon (5/1) another former manager with a deep history at the club is also being discussed, while Erik ten Hag (6/1) and Gareth Southgate (8/1) are priced longer as more speculative options.

What the expert says...
Postecoglou returning would be the dream ticket for some fans, but it’s far from straightforward. O’Neill taking the reins full-time could offer short-term stability, while Maloney remains the dark horse to lead a long-term rebuild.
