Elon Musk 1/2 to become the new Twitter CEO at some point in 2022

Elon Musk has agreed a deal to take over Social Media platform Twitter for a reported $44 billion fee. 

Since bidding for the platform less than two weeks ago, Musk has repeatedly come back with better offers and it ended up taking $44bn to seal the deal.

Bookmakers give odds of 1/2 that Elon Musk becomes the CEO of Twitter in 2022, with the takeover not necessarily meaning that Musk will install himself as the CEO. 

Musk is the world's richest person, with an estimated worth of over $270bn with his shareholding in Tesla and SpaceX contributing massively towards that.

With over 80 million followers on the platform, Musk is one of the most popular users there is and he's long been tweeting on there. 

Musk has discussed wanting free speech to be key on the platform as a big reason that he has agreed to the takeover.

Prop bets for the new Twitter era include the return of Donald Trump

With a new era of Twitter comes a whole host of special bets around the Musk ownership. 

These specials include the potential return of Donald Trump, who was banned from the platform last year due to the risk of "incitement of violence".

Bookies give a 90% chance for Donald Trump to return to Twitter under the new ownership, but Trump has said to Fox News that he is not interested in a return.

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey left the company last year but Dorsey and Musk have bonded over cryptocurrency in recent times so a return could well be on the cards. 

The heavy favourite in the specials is for Twitter to get an edit button, which has been confirmed by the platform in recent weeks.
