Alexander Jones Favourite as Doncaster Prepares to Vote

The Doncaster Mayoral Election is shaping up to be one of the most watched elections this Thursday, with Alexander Jones (Reform UK) now the clear 8/15 favourite with UK Betting Sites to claim victory.

Jones, a local councillor and Reform’s candidate, has surged in both public sentiment and betting markets, promising tougher local governance and campaigning heavily on reforming local public services.

His momentum reflects broader national trends, with Reform UK polling strongly in various regional races.

Star Sports latest odds suggest a 65.2% implied probability that Jones wins the most votes this week, putting him well above the rest of the candiates.

What the expert says...
Alexander Jones's price at 8/15 shows the scale of the shift Reform UK has made locally. Labour’s Ros Jones is still firmly in contention, but momentum seems to favour a change.

Main Challengers: Labour’s Ros Jones and Tory Nick Fletcher

Ros Jones, the Labour mayor since 2013, is priced at 15/8 to retain her position.

Despite her long tenure and record on economic regeneration Labour faces a stiffer challenge in 2025, with rising discontent among local voters potentially opening the door to a Reform win.

Nick Fletcher (Conservatives) is third in the betting at 11/2, hoping to spring a surprise.

As a current MP for Don Valley, Fletcher's profile helps, but Conservative struggles nationally could limit his chances.

Further down the betting, candidates from the Liberal Democrats, Workers Party, Greens, Yorkshire Party and multiple independents populate the market, but all are priced at 50/1 or bigger indicating a tough path to victory unless an extraordinary late surge materialises.
