Reigning champion Ding Liren is 8/5 outsider in the latest betting odds

Ding Liren sits as the outsider in the upcoming Chess World Championship match with bookies expecting him not to win the event for the second year in-a-row.

Liren beat Ian Nepomniachtchi in the 2023 World Championship in Kazakhstan back in April 2023 and he will defend his title this year as the outsider.

Ding had previously withdrew from the 2023 Asian Games and some of the opening events of the 2024 Grand Chess Tour but he will defend his title this year.

2024 Chess World Championship is currently pencilled in for the end of November

The 2024 Chess World Championship has a provisional schedule running from November 20 and December 15 this year with the match a best of 14 games affair.

Singapore will host the event this year after winning in the bidding process ahead of Indian cities Chennai and New Delhi.

Ding Liren currently has a 2-0 record in classical Chess matches against Gukesh D and he'll be wanting to continue that form here.
