I break betting odds news as it happens, so you’re never left behind when the market moves or a top offer lands.

  • Ladbrokes are offering odds on 2026 becoming the UK’s hottest year on record, with odds of 1/2 for it to top the charts.
  • The hottest-ever UK day (40.3°C) could be beaten, with odds at 4/5 for the record to fall.
  • 2025 broke historical records with a mean temperature of 10.09°C and 1,648.5 hours of sunshine across the country.

Weather Betting Specials Now Here For 2026

After a scorching and sun-drenched 2025, Ladbrokes have launched a new range of 2026 weather betting specials, reflecting growing public interest in climate-driven markets.

With the Met Office confirming 2025 as both the warmest and sunniest year on record for the UK, punters are now being offered odds on whether 2026 could go even further, including the chance of the hottest UK day in history being broken once again.

According to provisional figures from the Met Office, 2025 clocked in a mean UK temperature of 10.09°C, putting it ahead of both 2022 and 2023 to become the warmest year since records began in 1884.

In addition to the heat, the sunshine was relentless as the UK saw 1,648.5 hours of sunshine, smashing the previous record set back in 2003 by over 60 hours.

These statistics have pushed UK betting sites to anticipate further climate extremes in 2026.

Given this context, the odds of 1/2 (66.7% chance) on another record-breaking year for heat may not seem so far-fetched.

Could the UK’s Hottest Day Ever Be Beaten?

The current UK record of 40.3°C, set on 19 July 2022, remains an astonishing climate milestone.

However, Ladbrokes have priced up 4/5 odds that the record will be exceeded and confirmed by the Met Office before the year is out.

With year-on-year temperatures trending upwards and heatwaves now a recurring theme in British summers, bookmakers believe there's a better than 50% chance that this historic mark could be surpassed in 2026.

What the expert says...
The UK weather isn’t just a talking point anymore but it’s a betting market in its own right. With heat records falling like dominoes, 2026 looks primed for another statistical shake-up.

Don't Rule Out a Washout as Wettest Year Odds Also Offered

Interestingly, it’s not just sunshine and heat in the spotlight.

The UK’s wettest year on record came in 2000, when rainfall reached a total of 1,337.3mm.

Ladbrokes now offer 3/1 on that record also being broken, reflecting growing unpredictability in UK weather extremes.

Should a damp, storm-ridden year unfold, punters backing the rain could be in for a windfall.

Where To Bet on 2026 Weather Specials

These markets are now live at Ladbrokes, with more potentially set to follow across other UK betting sites.

Whether you’re backing the heat or betting on a washout, these unique markets are growing in popularity as climate stories dominate headlines.
