Provided it is not too soft for her, Asfoora could come back to her best at Longchamp in a first-time visor with Oisin Murphy on board.

Impressive when winning a Group 3 over this course and distance last time, proving that he handles soft ground well. Landed a good draw again, which is key over this sprint course. The one to catch.

Mgheera was well beaten in this race last year, but in truth, she missed the break and was never in the race from her wide draw. Having changed stables over the winter, she won well over C&D on soft ground in May and has held her form well through UK and Irish Group races since. The only blemish came on quick ground in the Nunthorpe (she still managed 8th), and a return to a softer surface is a huge plus. As is her draw (stall 5), which sees her near the pace in stalls 2 and 4, and also near the market principals in 3 and 1. I expect the race to develop down that side, and this C&D winner looks underestimated with conditions to suit.

Consistent 4yo filly. She has 1 win 6 since April, with her defeats all by small margins. She has gone close at the highest level in her last three races and should be a player in this Group 1 contest if coping with the very soft ground. She’ll be fresh after a six week break, William Buick takes over in the saddle and she could have another big run still left in her.

This one was only beaten 1.5L when 5th last time out with the same jockey on board. A good value each-way bet for the 4 places available.

Has been running with merit @ Grp level all season and deservies to take a race of this nature, making current 10/1 worth Ew consideration here.

A wild race as ever, with cases to be made throughout the field. The most intriguing one for me ended up being Sky Majesty, who steps back to 5f for the first time, which is something I’m always a fan of. High draws can prove a negative in this, although it’s not unheard of for it to be won from something high. With the number of horses that get stuck in behind here from mid to low draws over the years, I’d rather have one that can get a clear run. If this horse can break well and go the gallop over shorter, then I think she could prove a bit of a springer here. The way she races, I’d imagine it was the plan to drop her in trip, and it’s interesting they’ve done so in a race like this. If Marquand can just ride her with the choke out, hopefully she can contest the lead and prove gritty under his drive. It’s hope more than expectation perhaps in a race like this, especially with a 2yo getting a stone thrown in.

Afjan has clearly been held in high regard as they took a chance on him at Royal Ascot after his impressive debut. He probably doesn't want the ground to be too fast, as his performance on testing conditions at Longchamp last time out was very nice. He beat a horse who finished a close second on her next start in a Group 1.

JM Jungle is just the most likeable horse imaginable. He has won at Group 2 level this season, and there are reasons for marking up his decent effort in the Nunthorpe last time. He acts on any ground so today's conditions wouldn't be an undue concern. Ideally he will break smartly and race just behind a leader, enabling him to save a little for the final half furlong.

The lineup includes three entries from the Kevin Ryan yard, and that's his only entries and main aim for the day. Reviewing the three, it's notable that Washington Heights is back for a second attempt in this event, finishing seventh last year. I think his recent prep run was to loosen up, and his penultimate run prior to that was an indication of his ability, winning with plenty in hand.

2.5 lengths winner on soft ground at Chantilly last time. Trained in the Czech Republic but decent pedigree. Dam is Bated Breath. Half-sister to Afjan actually. Good win in France last time. This is harder but comes here in best form of her short career (only a 3yo) boasting form figures 1121.

Handicappers have been involved in Group 1 sprints multiple times this season, and Against The Wind could be underestimated here. His draw is kind of high, but if he handles the ground, I think he's capable of running a big race. He's shown potential group quality at Southwell and Thirsk in good handicaps.

Small each-way tip for Star Of Lady M who could at least run better than what these odds suggest. Below form the last few runs but did have some good form in the book before that, she has already won against some of the opponents she meets again today. Best recent form was shown on Good ground but she also has some good form on Soft so if the ground conditions are soft today, it shouldn't be a problem. 5f probably the best distance for this horse. Very small each-way tip.
